Don't really want to go into details as it was literally 20 mins ago but I am gutted and need distracting.

(fortunately no dc's involved, after all the threads i've read on here, i'm thankful, if that's at all possible, that it happened now and not 5 years down the line)

Distract me please?

you need wine, chocolate, a chick flick and a good mate round this evening
xxx

dontunderstandmuchreally · 21/05/2009 17:56

get a friend round and then turn your fone off.

MorrisZapp · 21/05/2009 17:57

Don't watch the chick flick. It will be full of perfect people having perfect relationships.

Watch something easy but not relationship related.

New Tricks?? No, that's appalling. I like to relax with 'Homes Under the Hammer' on replay.

So sorry you've been dumped. It's crap innit. But at least he didn't say 'it's not you it's me'.

Did he?

FabulousBakerGirl · 21/05/2009 17:57

Plan.

Pamper evening.

Day of fun at the weekend.

Then do something you haven't been able to do since you have been with you ex.

Hope you are okay.

ilove · 21/05/2009 17:58

Watch Fawlty Towers. I love it when I'm having a day like yours.

crokky · 21/05/2009 18:00

It hurts like hell to get dumped, but in the long term, you will probably realise that the person who dumped you did you a favour.

I went out with a guy for 2 yrs - he dumped me on our 2 yr anniversary - I was heartbroken but looking back, him dumping me was the best thing he ever did for me.

MorrisZapp · 21/05/2009 18:01

Ooh and emotional emergency food such as an omelette and oven chips.

Nice big blanket, hot cup of tea.

Watch Coast, that long haired tosser will have you snorting at the male species.

SimpleAsABC · 21/05/2009 18:03

I have a bloody interview @ 8 o'clock.

Couldn't it have waited til half past?

OP posts:
CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 21/05/2009 18:05

download loads of classic comedy on c0d.

good luck with interview and take care.

BottySpottom · 21/05/2009 18:06

Are you doing the interview, or having the interview? if it's the latter, I'd be tempted to cancel in case you don't come across well.

I think you need wine, digestives and cashews.

SimpleAsABC · 21/05/2009 18:08

Its the latter but I can't help thinking that everything happens for a reason and doubt I'd be able to get through to agency to cancel.

Although, I am v unsure I'd get through it without crying.

It's a job for a nanny interview that I really quite want.

FabulousBakerGirl · 21/05/2009 18:12

How about you tell the parents you have just had some upsetting news a couple of hours ago and while you don't want to talk about it, would they prefer to reschedule? That way they know you aren't quite yourself but are keen to show a professional image.

MrsWobble · 21/05/2009 18:22

we interviewed a nanny in your position once. She arrived 30 mins late so we had mentally crossed her off the list and only went through the interview to be polite except that she was really impressive at interview - so after about 30 mins we just asked her what was going on - that our initial impression was so different to the interview. she was completely honest with us and we offered her the job. she was a brilliant nanny and stayed for 9 years until our youngest started school.

Doha · 21/05/2009 18:23

Watch 24 house or Grey's anatomy

wine gums/migets gems lots of wine and a teddy to cuddle--they never answer back or let you down

Gutted for you tho !!!

MrsWobble · 21/05/2009 18:24

and to finish the story that nanny is now happily settled with a partner and daughter of her own and my children love her and her daughter - it's become a very special relationship

FabulousBakerGirl · 21/05/2009 18:24

I was late for an interview by half an hour once. I had got on the wrong train. Lucky for me the person due at the time I arrived didn't show and I got the job.

SimpleAsABC · 21/05/2009 19:09

I am going! I am still gutted but I am going.

Going to see one friend straight after and another after that.

I shall report back though and thank you. It means a lot to know folk are listening.

PS going to be honest with the new family, no point in lying they'll wonder what's wrong with my eyes!

SimpleAsABC · 21/05/2009 22:18

I'm back, held it together fine and didn't share any info about tonight.

Howling now though, it's so unfair.

Doha · 21/05/2009 22:27

Well done for even going throught with it. It just shows you are made of strong stuff.

Now get the wine (l know it's late) and have a glass or 2, or 3.

Things are awful for you just now and l am sure wiser MNers will be along with good advice.

I just want to say stay strong and l am thinking about you

KiwiKat · 21/05/2009 22:31

Hope you get the job.

BottySpottom · 21/05/2009 22:57

Well done for going!

BitOfFun · 21/05/2009 23:05

Oh you poor darling! Fingers crossed for a great new start for you though...here, have a stiff gin and a manly thump on the shoulder. I've got to do some worky stuff for DP for an hour or so, but I'll probably be back later if you want a good old whinge, so I'll check back in on you later? Be kind to yourself- I'm sure it is his loss!

BitOfFun · 22/05/2009 00:42

Are you still up? How are you doing?

SimpleAsABC · 23/05/2009 11:03

Hey everybody,

thanks for the kind messages. I've sort of being avoiding the computer as I don't want to fall into the trap of emailing, social networking him and I know the temptation is HUUUUUUUUUUGE!

Came home after interview on Thurs and was mentally shattered so managed to fall asleep but was up and down all night. Friday I was working (managed a couple ok, eyes filled up a couple of times, no amateur dramatics though!) and have been text text texting friends to try and keep my mind off it.

Worst bit is I feel sick. In the pit of my stomach which I think is because I haven't eaten much, but I really don't feel like eating. And if I do eat, i might be sick and I don't like being sick. Catch 22.

Thank you x

Can you go out shopping and buy a totally unecessary but fabulous dress or pair of shoes? Then you can wear them when you feel like socialising again. Being dumped is the worst. hugs.
