I am not posting this in bereavment because today I am thinking of her with a smile on my face as I remember all that she did for us, which I can appreciate all the better now that I am a mother myself.
I am remembering all the happy times of which there were so many..camping trips, singing together, sunday drives. Life was not perfect and neither was my mum but one thing I know is that she remains one of the most selfless people I have ever known. She put so much into looking after my brothers and myself even working nights and still being there for us in the day where things were tight.
I remember her beautiful singing voice, the way she used to call me 'toots' and I even smile when I think of how she could make you stop and behave with just one look.
So for those of you out there who have lost you mum I hope that you are able to think of her with a smile - it can take time and it may always be tinged with a little sadness but memories are a wonderful thing and I hope you can treasure them like I do.
