My dh plays sport once a week and goes out with friend s once every 4-6 wks and I love it .

He will be out tonight and I like the fact that I can watch what rubbish I want on tv , I can lie on the sofa in my pjs and not talk , and chat on the phone to friends without any guilt .

So am I the only one and if not why do you like it ?

DH went out for three days. I thought it was lovely. All that peace and quiet

captainmummy · 26/11/2008 18:28

My dh travells quite a lot (or used to, not so much now and I love it!

I love eating with the dc, not having to wait til 7pm. I love being 1st ine the bath, getting the TV remote after 8pm and not having to wake up until 7ap, not 6.30.

jenk1 · 26/11/2008 18:29

he went out twice last week.

lilymolly · 26/11/2008 18:30

Oh me too

Watch all my crap on Sky plus, and go to my queen size bed alone
(he has the spare room when he is drunk)

missblythe · 26/11/2008 18:31

Poker last night, out with a friend tonight.

I'll get my PJs on, watch Monday night's Spooks without him scoffing in the background and then go to bed at about 9.

Bliss!

compo · 26/11/2008 18:32

' I can lie on the sofa in my pjs and not talk '

I do that every night whether he's here or not

travellingwilbury · 26/11/2008 18:34

I am so glad its not just me

I doubt I would be as impressed if it was 5 nights a week but just once in a while it is a treat .

I do.

He only goes out about twice a year but it is nice.

The kids are in bed now.

I have corn beef hash for dinner and I am going to do a few chores now, have my dinner and just potter about.

I am out tomorrow on a very rare night out too so he will have a nice night then too.

Lizzylou · 26/11/2008 18:36

I love it too, no need to faff around cooking, don't have to watch Ray Mears/Cops on Camera crap and can laze away and MN without being accused of being antisocial.

It's just a pity DH rarely goes out

compo · 26/11/2008 18:37

my dh is out once a week
I love that I don't have to cook for him, I usually get a ready meal in for that night
The dcs are always in bed at 7pm on the dot and there is no one to nag/row with over who should be cooking dinner, who should be putting dcs to bed,who should be sorting out the washing etc etc

Onlyaphase · 26/11/2008 18:42

Actually my DH is away every other week, Monday to Friday, and it definatly has its plus points! No need to cook proper meals, or watch football, get cross because the toys haven't been tidied away etc.

The weeks he is here are lovely though as he works from home so is around to deal with the nightmare 30 minutes before supper, and can give me a hand when needed, and walks the dogs sometimes. The other weeks are lovely too, in a different way, as the evenings are just my own, and I can be very selfish with them.

Bloody wish DH had been going out tonight - he came home late as trains all up the creak so I had sorted iout the DCs tea and bed and now am mumsnetting and he went in the family bathroom - next to the room I am in - rather than use one of the others in the house and has done a big poo which stinks so I am having to go and make dinner as I can't sit here any longer!!!

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

travellingwilbury · 26/11/2008 19:08

That is grim MC do you think he has done it on purpose so you get into the kitchen ?

My DH went out to friends last night as he does every week. I couldn't believe how irritated I was when he came home early and wanted me to participate in conversation.

Ivykaty44 · 26/11/2008 19:13

My goodness yes I used to love it - loved it so much told him not to come home

anyfucker · 26/11/2008 19:25

yes love love love love it

even better, he takes the kids out for a couple of hours 2 nights a week for sports training so I have an empty house

I pour a glass of wine, eat my tea in peace, put some music on and MN to my hearts content

thenewme · 26/11/2008 20:27

Mine came home half an hour ago.

Drunk.

Is now in bed.

Men!

MollyCherry · 26/11/2008 21:30

My DH goes out on average a couple of times a week - my mum thinks I'm a doormat for letting him 'get away with it'

I LOVE IT!!!!

FfreckleFface · 26/11/2008 21:34

Mine is out now. Apologised profusely on way out, promised to cook dinner and be generally excellent husband tomorrow.

Little Ff fell asleep feeding, and went in her cot without a whimper. Am confident will not hear a peep from her until half seven in the morning.

I have a brain-chillingly cold glass of sauvignon blanc, the sofa to myself (apart from Boydog, who is curled up on my feet), the laptop, and Desperate Housewives in half an hour.

Happy days

Sexonlegs · 26/11/2008 21:36

God yes.

I can eat stuff with mushrooms in it (dh hates mushrooms), watch crap TV, and not have to discuss finances etc

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 26/11/2008 21:49

totally love it.

same reasons - grab a meal-for-one to put in the whizzyping (ds' word for the microwave), watch girlie TV, not talk, eat chip and dip until i feel queasy and then go to bed and STRETCH out like a starfish for the night.

roseability · 26/11/2008 21:59

Oh I love it!

Can just eat left overs/crap for tea (and early rather than at 8pm). Can have the remote and watch rubbish TV to my hearts content!

Wouldn't want it every night but great once in a while

roseability · 26/11/2008 22:01

Oh and the having bed to myself is fab too. I can fall asleep on my back and snore to my hearts content! Also now I am pregnant and completely unhorny, I don't have to persuade him not to try it on, and then put up with the sulk

WinkyWinkola · 26/11/2008 22:03

I love it too. It's about peace and space to do whatever I want. I'm so glad it's not just me that feels that way.
