Feel really guilty, just upset neighbour

I have just really upset my neighbour and I feel really guilty I was just trying to have a laugh and cheer her up as I heard her and her husband arguining early hours of this morning.

She's such a shy, timid thing and she was pottering around in the garden this morning. So I crept out, hid behind a bush and then jumped out at her screaming. She nearly fell over and dropped a vase she was carrying (which smashed) and she burst into tears and ran back into the house

I want to go around and apologise but I darnt. I can hear her muttering to herself in the kitchen now.

Hmm
MarmadukeScarlet · 19/11/2008 13:52

You are lucky she didn't crack you one with the vase, what an ridiculously immature and stupid thing to do.

leoleo · 19/11/2008 13:52

Go knock now or post a little note through the door saying sorry you were only messing about and does she want a coffee.
Don't feel too bad obviously she is a bit down.

warthog · 19/11/2008 13:53

jeez. go round and apologize!

leoleo · 19/11/2008 13:53

We've all done something befoe to lighten the mood maybe a missed judged it.

luckylady74 · 19/11/2008 13:53

'screaming' doesn't ring true some how and why would she be carrying a vase in the garden?

What a horrible thing to do

leoleo · 19/11/2008 13:55

She porb means a little 'boo' rather than a scream.
Maybe she was picking flowers for the vase?

RubySlippers · 19/11/2008 13:55

i think if this is true then you need to go round and grovel

jesusofutopia · 19/11/2008 13:55

She has lots of ornamental vases in the garden.

I'm going to offer to pay for it and apologise. Feel awful.

I fail to see how somebody she barely knows jumping out from behind a bush would cheer her up .

Please go apologise to her.

RubySlippers · 19/11/2008 13:56

yep, offer to pay for the damage as well

jumpingbeans · 19/11/2008 13:56

fucking hell, I dread to think what you would have done if she had upset you

southeatsastras · 19/11/2008 13:56

i think it's quite funny. but apologise really

giraffescantdancethetango · 19/11/2008 13:58

go and say sorry

jesusofutopia · 19/11/2008 13:58

She does kind of know me, we talk alot in summer when she spends a lot of time in the garden.

I'm writing her a note, does this sound ok:

"A***,

Really sorry for scaring you, it was a stupid thing to do. I will of course pay for the vase if you let me know how much it is worth. Would you like to come around for a coffee before the school run? "

?

Beauregard · 19/11/2008 13:58

Sorry but lol
But do go and grovel as you have prob made her day more miserable.

Northumberlandlass · 19/11/2008 13:58

Why the fuck would you think that jumping out from behind a bush would cheer up a 'shy timid thing' ?

Go and apologise with a bottle of wine or flowers and tell her just how bad you feel !
x

SoupDragon · 19/11/2008 13:59
Hmm
jumpingbeans · 19/11/2008 13:59

Calling her ARSE aint going to help none

jesusofutopia · 19/11/2008 14:00

yawn, I'm not a troll, been a member for a while etc etc

OP posts:
conkertree · 19/11/2008 14:00

yes that note sounds fine to me. she is probably embarrassed at being so jumpy too - so sure she would appreciate a get out too.

jesusofutopia · 19/11/2008 14:01

sorry, that was aimed at Soup Dragon and the other face pullers.

lol jumpingbeans!

Her husband did a similar thing to me last summer, caused me to chop a head off a flower.

theSuburbanDryad · 19/11/2008 14:03

You complete nutter, why would you do that?? Sorry, that's just really made me laugh though!

Note sounds good. I'd take some cake round as well, personally, or some nice flowers to apologise.
