A guy I was seeing told me he loved me, we slept together, and the next day he ended things. I felt used and was extremely angry, so I got my brother to contact his parents and tell them what happened. I later regretted involving them and apologised to him. Was involving his parents out of line, even considering what he did?

Whatever possessed you to go to a grown adult males parents with your grievance ?!
Completely unhinged.....

Totally agree with this- you’re 28 and were seeing a guy for a few weeks and were happy enough to have sex then decided that because he didn’t want to take it further, you would ask your brother to tell on him to his parents!! Seriously wtf totally bizarre behaviour - what would posses you to do that. Totally weird! Sounds like you are 16! Dont do that again!

Wayk · 18/10/2026 17:27

This is like something the Burke family would do. I am mortified for you.

IdaGlossop · 18/10/2026 17:31

At 28, you're more than old enough to fight your own battles. I'm a lot older than you and am appalled that you haven't learnt to do so.

Charlenedickens · 18/10/2026 17:05

Seriously, assuming he’s the same age what parent would get involved in this,

however I think this is a teenager

I think plenty of parents would be mortified tbh, but more importantly, he would be mortified just knowing that he parents knew!

Why in italics?

AI thinks it makes it more believable

Italiangreyhound · 18/10/2026 19:07

@KilkennyCats

I think he behaved like a shit. Why not tell his mum?

Its not going to change the op's situation. But i don't see what's wrong with it.

Seeing him for a month but he was very consistent up until it happened. Calling every min of the day. Coming to see me. Flowers and just being exactly how I want my man to me. Maybe was love bombing but i genuinely fell for him. We spoke about marriage kids ect

It was immature and foolish to have your brother 'tattle' on him. If you wanted him 'talttled on' then you should have done it yourself (but I certainly would hope you wouldn't). I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but was there some cultural element at play here that you would think that's an appropriate thing to do?

If some unknown woman (because you aren't a little girl) had called me because one of my adult sons had unceremoniously dumped her I probably would have asked her why she thought it was any of my business what my adult son did and told her that I'd hoped she'd learnt to be more suspicious of men who tried to rush her into bed that way.

Not that I think it's right for anyone (male or female) to love-bomb someone or to use protestations of love to get someone into bed. But it's rather a case of 'caveat emptor' and 'if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is'. I can't think of a woman on this Earth who hasn't experienced it, myself included. And I fell for it more than once when I was young to my embarrassment. It's a hard lesson many, it not all, of us have to learn.

maxslice · 18/10/2026 19:40

Yes, it was completely out of line. For God’s sake, you are 28 years old, and even at 15 it would have been weird and out of line.

And now you’re back with him?

Don’t be surprised if he uses you, dumps you, tells you that you are dim and childish.

Awkwardisfunny · 18/10/2026 17:04

I disagree with other posters. Based on your update as well: love bombers have found a loophole to have sex with women they know full well would say no to them if they had the full facts. In fact, it's probably more than that in your case because he left after one night, despite the promises. That's disgusting and the betrayal can scar some women for life. I'm glad you forced some accountability and wish more women did this. It could make this asshole think twice and help prevent more women becoming his victims.

“Victims” of what, exactly?

Nobody owes anyone a relationship in return for sex.

maxslice · 18/10/2026 19:45

My brother would say, “What’s wrong with you? No way I’m doing that!”

arethereanyleftatall · 18/10/2026 20:02

Going forward op, if a bloke tells you they love you and wants to marry you after you’ve been seeing them a few weeks - they are lying to have sex with you.

is he shit to do it - yes
do blokes do this all the time - yes
do you need to take some responsibility for falling for this nonsense at 28 - yes

Italiangreyhound · 18/10/2026 20:40

@Holidaymodeon

"lol I thought A Prickly was modern code for something 🤣"

Well it might be!!

Youlostyourlemons · 19/10/2026 10:16

Your got your BROTHER to squeal on him to his parents? Jesus christ.

TeeBee · 19/10/2026 11:49

It certainly smacks of 'I'm telling mum!!' Ridiculous. Tell him he's a prick...job done!

Livpool · 19/10/2026 14:39

Bumcake · 18/10/2026 15:06

You talked marriage after a month? I can’t choose whether that is weirder than telling your brother he banged you and did a runner.

Im trying to imagine a world where my brother would make that call, but I am failing.

Agreed! Telling your brother is weird, as is telling his parents. Why didn’t you tell his parents? Which, is still weird.

speakball · 19/10/2026 15:28

op what did you think the parents knowing would achieve? was your brother keen to contact them or did you have to cajole him?

I agree. If nothing has been discussed previously, that's fine. But if you're a man actively lying to a woman and telling her you love her and want a future with her - then dumping her immediately after sex. That's something else entirely.

They were together for a month…. Four weeks. Wanting a future together my ass.

I've had stuff in my fridge longer.

And telling his parents is weird.

28

Thats embarrassing. Why didn’t you call his parents yourself?

Morereadingthanposting · Yesterday 13:50

Told my brother. He’s well for the duel idea but only if I get him and the cad full period costume. Now, pistols or swords?!?

Hotdogsandfries · Yesterday 13:51

I’m embarrassed for you. Good god.

JockTamsonsBairns · Yesterday 15:55

Did your brother not question this plan? How old is he?

I have 4 brothers and I know with certainty, not one of them would go along with this.
