Did i take it too far

A guy I was seeing told me he loved me, we slept together, and the next day he ended things. I felt used and was extremely angry, so I got my brother to contact his parents and tell them what happened. I later regretted involving them and apologised to him. Was involving his parents out of line, even considering what he did?

Why in italics?

OrdinaryGirl · 18/10/2026 14:36

I’m really confused as to the reason this is all in italics

JanuaryLove · 18/10/2026 14:38

Come on now op it was wrong to tell his family but I can understand wanting to. Blokes say all kind of words we want to hear to get fanny sadly even the 'nicest' of men

MindBodySoul · 18/10/2026 14:41

How old are you?

hotmumshit · 18/10/2026 14:42

Yeah how old are you or were you when this happened?

He's a prick, so I think you're fine

OrdinaryGirl · 18/10/2026 14:43

Anyway, italics aside. I don’t think the issue is whether it was sensible to get your brother to contact the parents of the chap who broke up with you - I think you probably know it wasn’t.

The issue is your hurt feelings and sense of betrayal at this chap’s behaviour. It’s a tale as old as time - a man saying anything that will get a woman into bed.

Assuming you are both adults, and no coercion was involved, this is a fairly straightforward learning experience.

Some people can say things they don’t mean and will behave in a way that is selfish and causes pain to others. And we can’t stop them doing that. All we can do is decide on our own behaviour.

I’m really sorry this happened to you OP. Please don’t allow this man more of your time and headspace than he has occupied already. There are lovely chaps out there who have bags of integrity and kindness - sending good vibes for one of them to appear in your life when you least expect it.

Everything @OrdinaryGirl said. I was honestly sworn off men for a while having been burnt a few times in a row and literally met Dh. In fact having been treated badly meant I realised what an absolutely lovely chap Dh was.

I would hope that your brother would talk you out of this kind of behaviour in the future, not the two consenting adults but the contacting his parents part. It is a very strange thing to do. Move on, learn from it, one day it will be a story you will tell without feeling the hurt behind it.

BleedinglyObvious · 18/10/2026 14:53

You didn't take it far enough. You should have gone to the tabloids, tiktok and all other SM.

1983Louise · 18/10/2026 14:55

You're a bit old for childish games, I'm embarrassed for you. How long have you been seeing him.

BeSharpHelper · 18/10/2026 14:56

You got your brother to tell on him to his mum and dad? seriously!! Wtf, that’s insane!! You shagged him so presumably you wanted to in the moment, people are allowed to change their mind. How would you have felt if his parents had said ‘ yes John said the sex was shit ‘ , what did you expect them to say? What did they say ?!!

Seeing him for a month but he was very consistent up until it happened. Calling every min of the day. Coming to see me. Flowers and just being exactly how I want my man to me. Maybe was love bombing but i genuinely fell for him. We spoke about marriage kids ect

He was never your man, sounds like he love bombed you, very childish of you to tell on him

MindBodySoul · 18/10/2026 15:01

Yes, 28 is far too old to have your brother telling the chaps parents. Oh dear.. never mind. Onwards and upwards

It was love bombing, I didn't mean to be harsh but know your worth and hold your head up high. You won't be the first and certainly not the last to fall for someone like this. Put it down to experience, these type of men say exactly what women want to hear unfortunately x

Seziah · 18/10/2026 15:06

He loved bombed you and you have been very intense, involving your brother and his parents after only knowing each other a month. What did you expect his parents to do? I get that you felt hurt and disappointed but it wasn’t a very emotionally mature thing to do

You talked marriage after a month? I can’t choose whether that is weirder than telling your brother he banged you and did a runner.

Im trying to imagine a world where my brother would make that call, but I am failing.

Sharingadrink · 18/10/2026 15:08

Why would you care

HideousKinky · 18/10/2026 15:09

If I had asked my brother to do this when I was 28 he would have said no.
Which is the only sensible reply.
What were you thinking?

You are adults, what's it got to do with his parents?

DontLiveByTheClouds · 18/10/2026 15:10

Get fanny?

What a horrible phrase. Let's not adopt that one.

notspringingback · 18/10/2026 15:11

its a bit weird to contact his parents but he’s clearly a prick so I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

JoyousWriter · 18/10/2026 15:14

You can't fall for someone in a month.

Really silly behaviour from you.

PurpleLovecats · 18/10/2026 15:14

I cannot understand why your brother agreed? How would you even engineer that into a conversation with the parents?

Very odd behaviour.

SinicalMe · 18/10/2026 15:26

Why did you want to tell his parents? Did you want them to tell him off?

Boreded · 18/10/2026 15:28

Because AI wrote it, they copied and pasted, and forgot to remove
