A guy I was seeing told me he loved me, we slept together, and the next day he ended things. I felt used and was extremely angry, so I got my brother to contact his parents and tell them what happened. I later regretted involving them and apologised to him. Was involving his parents out of line, even considering what he did?

You’re talking about it like your virtue was stolen by some kind of seductive cad and your family now expects his family to make amends for it, like something that would happen in an 18th century novel.

Maybe OP wants her family to demand that since she's been dishonoured BF now has to marry her to save her good name.

KilkennyCats · 18/10/2026 15:35

She’s 28, and she told his Mummy on him 😆. How can you think that’s fine?

It's utterly ridiculous. OP, come on. What exactly did you want to achieve? This is questionable behaviour from anyone over 16, and even then why would you?

SparkleHorse82 · 18/10/2026 16:31

Totally out of line. He’s a jerk, but you really overstepped the mark.

I'm trying to imagine the look on my brothers face if I entrusted him with this errand.

Failing.

What would have happened is that he would have told me to stop being bonkers, or ask if I wanted him to fight a duel in defence of my honour (or something equally disparaging)

Edited

I'm old enough to be the young man's mother, and I'm trying to imagine the expression on my face if someone's brother got in touch to tell me one of my son's had slept with a girl and then dropped contact.

I might tell him that he should have been kinder, but as none of it is my business, I probably wouldn't say anything at all and would just quietly block the phone number.

Heylittlesongbird · 18/10/2026 16:39

We can only hope that your brother thought this was crazy and just told you he’d done it to calm you down.

Your brother was out of line agreeing to contact the parents, wth?!
of course the guy was a wanker but it feels a step too far to tell his parents, I don’t get the logic, sadly we never truly know whether sex will lead to something more, for all genders, we might really like someone until we shag them and realise we don’t gel or people might just pretend they like you just to get a shag.
the secret is, not to get too invested in something casual.
if you are the type of person who is likely to be upset by this scenario then don’t have sex until you’re certain, for sure that they genuinely like you and want to be with you after the event.

Prick.

lol I thought A Prickly was modern code for something 🤣

BrendaHollowayWhenImGoneNsoul · 18/10/2026 16:47

Wonder how that phone call went .
Hello you don't know me but your son had sex with my sister and um um.well that's it really

What a load of pish.

Holidaymodeon · 18/10/2026 16:47

@Random1998 is this a cultural thing, that your families are so involved for you to have your brother tell his parents? Is it about shame? I don’t know what other reasons there would be to involve both families?

BrilliantBetty · 18/10/2026 16:49

He was leading you on. So don’t worry about it. He knew what he was doing and lo and behold he got a reaction he wasn’t expecting and it probably really embarrassed him. Good for you. Who cares if it’s a bit weird.

Because AI wrote it, they copied and pasted, and forgot to remove

Wonder if it another one of those mn generated ai posts where they forgot to hide all the formatting again prior to posting?

Why are so many people annoyed about the italics ?

Because the thread is fake so people are using it a way to ridicule it

JenRummy · 18/10/2026 16:52

Yes. That was a ridiculous thing to do. A month is no time at all.

Charlenedickens · 18/10/2026 16:54

There is no way a 28 year old tells the parents, how old are you really?

SpaceAngel1999 · 18/10/2026 16:56

Is this for real? Grow up

MidnightMeltdown · 18/10/2026 16:57

Well it’s a bit of an odd thing to do, but also quite funny. Would love to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation with his parents 🤣.

Frankly, men like this deserve to be shamed so I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

I disagree with other posters. Based on your update as well: love bombers have found a loophole to have sex with women they know full well would say no to them if they had the full facts. In fact, it's probably more than that in your case because he left after one night, despite the promises. That's disgusting and the betrayal can scar some women for life. I'm glad you forced some accountability and wish more women did this. It could make this asshole think twice and help prevent more women becoming his victims.

Anyahyacinth · 18/10/2026 17:05

I personally love the idea that his behaviour caused him even a little embarrassment. 👏

Forget him OP 💐

Seriously, assuming he’s the same age what parent would get involved in this,

however I think this is a teenager

Seeing him for a month but he was very consistent up until it happened. Calling every min of the day. Coming to see me. Flowers and just being exactly how I want my man to me. Maybe was love bombing but i genuinely fell for him. We spoke about marriage kids ect

Anyone talking like that in a month is almost definitely just saying what they think will work

Naurrr · 18/10/2026 17:10

It's so embarrassing, did your brother tell the parents 'hi, your son had sex with my sister and then dumped her.'

After a few hours of dates, a man talking about marriage and kids is a red flag.

DrWhosJazzyScarf · 18/10/2026 17:13

His PARENTS?

Arlanymor · 18/10/2026 17:14

This isn't real. No way any brother would agree to do that!

BurnoutGP · 18/10/2026 17:21

Unless he's 12 then yes its completely unhinged. He love bombed you for a shag and you then showed him exactly why you aren't girlfriend material. You need to grow up.
