Is this negging and am I flogging a dead horse?

I've started having sex with my new boyfriend. It has been a little awkward as he does have ED and he didn't mention it, which I can understand. I'm 55, he's 59. We're both in fairly good physical nick for our age I suppose. He has a job in construction and I also have a job that means I'm on my feet for most of the day.

We've been together since around the end of April and took a lot of time to get to know each other. Work is demanding for both of us and very often I notice he is just too tired to even be interested in sex and we have only managed to have penetrative sex once and it wasn't great.

It's a couple of things that he said that have upset me. After seeing me naked a fair few times, we were in bed once and he said "You have great breasts for a woman your age". I just thought why even say "for your age". I supposed they're not entirely pointing southwards just yet and still pretty good, but it felt like one of those half compliments.

Quite early on when we first met, he said "When you walked into the cafe, I thought you were much younger. But then when you got up close I thought no, she might be in her late forties". So again, like a half compliment. Why say it like that? He could have just said, oh, you look younger than you are and leave it at that.

Then very recently I was talking about needing to lose a bit of weight. It's only maybe half a stone around my middle aged spread really. He also needs to lose a bit around there. I mentioned it to him, about eating healthier and he said "You need to lose a couple of stone". I currently weigh 10.10 and I'm 5' 8".

Is this negging? Have I overlooked negging early on?

There are other red flags. I know for a fact that he's masturbating a lot when I'm not there. He forgets to put his used tissues in the bin... I know, gross... and sometimes they're in the bed when I get in. That's another thing that's really bugging me. So since April, he has had two erections when with me, one sort of worked, the other disappeared.

And I can see him openly appreciating other women when we are out together. Sometimes he even comments on how attractive they are. Then we get home and he falls asleep.

I am a very sexual person and I don't think I can go on like this.

Nasty.

My GP told me I was underweight a few years back when I was 9.7.

Are you completely ignorant?

WTAF. What is a real woman then?

I think you're probably a man with a grievance to take out on women.

Shame on you. I'll be reporting your horrible posts.

@Utr90 is talking utter shite. I’m mid 50s, perimenopausal for over 10 years now and on HRT. Still very sexual and have a very happy partner.

In case anyone reads this and thinks @Utr90has a point - 9st is right at the bottom of healthy BMI so ‘9st or under’ is a disordered opinion. 10st10 is comfortably inside the healthy range at 5ft 8. Not to mention the nasty tone of the rest of their posts. Not an opinion to give any weight to.

Speak for yourself.
I looked great in my 50's and still do in my 60's.

What a horrible post.

Lemieux7 · 11/10/2026 00:42

You're a nasty piece of work is what you are.

DiscombobulatedHedgehog · 11/10/2026 01:48

@PyrexCup I’m so pleased you got rid!

There are men out there who will make you feel cherished and respected, desired and beautiful. My DP does, he’s in his seventies and I’m fifties and we still have a very active and pleasing-to-us-both love life.
Life’s too damn short to put up with the many crap ones.

JoannCourcyIveGotThePowerNSoul · 11/10/2026 03:15

He really adds no + points to your life.
Get rid of.
The tissues in the bed is disgusting and disrespectful to you.

Scotflyer54 · 11/10/2026 07:49

There so red flags I am surprised that you have lasted since April. Dump and move on.

dragonflygold · 11/10/2026 07:55

Well done for dumping him, he sounded awful & just plain disgusting.

Fancy criticising you while simultaneously being unable to get it up and perform in the bedroom!
Some men really are unbelievable!

I have a medication check every three months for a medical condition, which includes being weighed. I'm the same height and have been the same weight as OP and have never been told I'm overweight.

Nine stone or under? piss off.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 11/10/2026 08:21

bigboykitty · 10/10/2026 15:14

When you dump him, I bet you a fiver he will say 'good luck to you if you think you can do better'.

And then try to blame YOU for the ED...

Maybe you don't - plenty do!

And as PPs have said, you need to acquaint yourself with BMI ranges - under 9 stone would be underweight for 5ft 8.

Nasty...

luckylavender · 11/10/2026 08:31

Throw him back

Lhori · 11/10/2026 09:04

He is quite judgemental for someone who is charmless, rude, sleazy, bad in bed, pudgy round the middle, older and dirty. He also seems to have turned up on this thread calling himself Utr90.

PineConeOrDogPoo · 11/10/2026 09:10

DorsetKnobBiscuit · 10/10/2026 14:11

He can't get it up.
He can't get a wank tissue in the bin.
He can't be nice.
He can't stop letching at other women.
He can't visit a florist.
He can't summon up the energy to be interested in sex.

He can be single.

😄 Well put
