My daughter did a dna test, results came back 25% Italian. I thought that's weird, that must mean one of her parents is half italian, so I did a test, yes you guessed it I'm 48% Italian and my two sisters who tested years ago came up as half sisters. Devastated, mum died two years ago and the man who I thought was my father died over 30 years ago. Not really sure what I'm looking for regarding this post, just some support and anyone out there with similar stories.

Hi, just wanted to give you all an update, I contacted DNA angels as suggested by many of you. They have been amazing and have managed to get as far as identifying my paternal grandparents. They haven't been able to identify father yet as they cannot access the UK records needed to get grandparentsdeath certs. We only know their full names and dob. I need to find dates of death and where they were residing so I can delve deeper to find out who their children are. Anyone on here know how I can find out dates of death which just that information?

Hi @rageagainstthemachine72

There's a whole section on genealogy on Mumsnet and there are very skilled and knowledgeable people there who could help. Perhaps start a thread there or ask Mumsnet to move this one?

All the best with your search 🙂

"There's a whole section on genealogy on Mumsnet"

There is indeed. You might be surprised how helpful people can be.

"They haven't been able to identify father yet as they cannot access the UK records needed to get grandparents death certs."

It is a very simple process to obtain death certificates for anybody in the UK. Although, having said that, death certificates by themselves aren't much help. It's more likely going to be the birth certificate for your father and any marriage certificate for his parents that are going to be much more useful.

"We only know their full names and dob."

If you have the full names of your grandparents and their dob then that is plenty to identify people. If you are happy to send a DM with the information then I would be happy to take a quick look, or otherwise, as mentioned start a thread on the Genealogy board and others will also be able to help. There are many people there who have subscriptions to different sources of research who would likely be willing to help.
