I love my partner, but when England plays he turns into an absolute arsehole. I told him tonight that I’m glad they’re out for this reason. He’s kicked me out of the house, and I’m currently sat in my car. Can’t drive anywhere cos I’ve had a couple of G&Ts

Can you get someone to pick you up?
What a twat. It’s only a bloody game!

suburberphobe · 16/07/2026 00:26

You cannot "love" someone who treats you like that.

Please get in touch with WomensAid.

BudeJellylegs · 16/07/2026 00:26

Well, quite. I’d rather be in the car than anywhere near him, to be fair.

Because when England plays, he is absolutely awful to be around

uber to the nearest premier inn (or similar) and then a good think in the morning if this relationship is giving you what you want

purplefern1 · 16/07/2026 00:54

OP, is it his house? If you co-own or rent, he has no right to kick you out. Is he verbally and physically abusive?

Wind your neck in love

NearlyNewNonny · 16/07/2026 00:58

I can't imagine he's the perfect gent at all other times either. Are you married? Have DC in the house? Time to seriously consider whether you're safe to stay in this relationship if a game causes him to be so abusive.

How awful.... has he done this before?
Are you scared of him when he's like this?
Is there a friend or family you can go and stay with??
Do you have children?

So heart breaking and important that it suddenly becomes ok to throw your partner out of their own home and make them sit outside in their car?! Come on.

NeatPinkFinch · 16/07/2026 01:06

Hope he’s now your ex partner

I wouldn't want to be around someone who said that to me tonight, bit I would have been the one to leave..

It’s a group of overpaid men kicking a ball around some grass, not a reason to throw a woman out of his home and make her sit in the car alone.

for what reason? what an utterly ridiculous thing. you've just literally victim blamed an abused woman, and sided with an abusive man, because.... some other men that you do not know lost a game of football... and you think that is a proportionate and normal and reasonable and rational way to feel? genuinely genuinely none of those footballers know you. if they lose it isnt your job, or your husband's job on the line. if they lose...what? you dont get to see another 90 minute game with those particular players on your flat screen telly for a little while? like what is it you feel you have lost? and if they had won the World Cup...what you would have gained? literally nothing. you get to say to people 'yeah we won the World Cup!' for 4 years and then...the World Cup gets played again and someone else wins and youre back to feeling glum? it is so fucking pathetic and you've literally just told this woman, who is clearly in way above her head that she is the one with the problem???? all because of some strangers kicking a ball about for 90 minutes! op has reached out for help and you've totally just been like well its your fault love and your abusive partner had his reasons even if he should've been the one to walk out on you. delusional levels of shit im reading on here. people 'heartbroken'. for fucks sake

Loloblue · 16/07/2026 01:26

Are you a total dick? It’s a game of football. Guess it allows people like you to show your true knobbishness though. Tsk. Disgusting

Pussygaloregalapagos · 16/07/2026 01:31

My daughter (20s) said to me tonight after the match that the doubly sad and dark thing about England losing tonight is the number of women who will get beaten up because of it. Ashamed to say I had never considered that edge to football. Lock the car doors and tomorrow write him a heartfelt letter. Change or I walk… Hope he changes and if not may God give you strength.

CoalTownDays · 16/07/2026 01:36

@BudeJellylegs don’t start the engine to charge your phone if you’re over the limit. You shouldn’t have to sit in a car over a bloody football match. Please let us know you’re safe.
