What are you buying your partner for Valentines Day?

OP posts:

I have been married for 30+ years..... I have never bought my partner anything for Valentine's Day 😂 is it really a big deal for adults?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 10/02/2026 16:34

A set of booked that he LOVED as a child.

Hard to get. Had to but 2nd hand. Efforts were made.

Doseofreality · 10/02/2026 16:35

Nothing as I’m not 12 or an Influencer 😂

Lmnop22 · 10/02/2026 16:40

Nothing!

ginasevern · 10/02/2026 16:44

I thought buying Valentine's presents was for teenagers.

Tempodrom · 10/02/2026 16:57

Absolutely nothing. Complete waste of money.

Mum2Fergus · 10/02/2026 17:04

Nothing. We’re adults.

Musicaltheatremum · 10/02/2026 17:06

Nothing but he's taking me out for lunch on Friday as Saturday will be busy (or more likely he wants to watch the rugby) and I'll cook him a nice meal on Saturday night.

Purplenote · 10/02/2026 17:08

A vinyl album that I know he wants and a card.

rockingroller · 10/02/2026 17:08

Two CDs that I would have bought him anyway. Last year I got him slippers!

DappledThings · 10/02/2026 17:10

Nothing. Presents are for birthdays and Christmas. Easter, Mother's/Father's day, Valentine's etc are cards only.

piscofrisco · 10/02/2026 17:12

A bee keeping course

HelpMeGetThrough · 10/02/2026 17:12

Nothing with a bit of luck. It’s a complete waste of time.

DinoLil · 10/02/2026 17:16

Well, I shan't be celebrating my wedding anniversary but I will make sure my dog has a lovely tea.

Wishimaywishimight · 10/02/2026 17:18

Ah it's just a bit of fun! DH and I are together over 20 years. I have a card for him and a box of his favourite (dark) chocolates. We take any opportunity to lift a day out of the ordinary / mundane 😃

Belladog1 · 10/02/2026 17:21

My partner, who is don't live with, generally sends me some letterbox type flowers. I don't get him anything!

BlackCat14 · 10/02/2026 17:32

I agree with the poster who said it’s a bit of fun! My partner always gets me flowers and another small gift, I’ve got him a gift bag and filled it with all his favourite sweet treats. We were in a shop a few weeks ago and saw a little game, a pack full of “couples conversations starters”… little things like “if you lost me in a supermarket, what aisle would you find me down?” So we’ll probably get those out after he’s cooked us a nice dinner!

Same.
It's never been a thing for us.
Can't stand all that stuff.

1000StrawberryLollies · 10/02/2026 17:39

A card. We've neen married for 23 years and have never really done Valentine's Day.

Arlanymor · 10/02/2026 17:39

piscofrisco · 10/02/2026 17:12

A bee keeping course

It was either that or a beheading course, right?

DancehallDays · 10/02/2026 17:44

I've got him a card with artwork of a steam train - it's not an actual Valentines card, I got it at the station on a recent heritage railway trip while he was distracted photographing a train.

dollyblue01 · 10/02/2026 17:46

Nothing and going out for dinner Friday night , not Saturday when the prices are doubled.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 10/02/2026 17:46

A card and a box of chocolates. We'll go out for some grub and a few drinks. Anything more involved than that is for teenagers.

MidWayThruJanuary · 10/02/2026 17:46

A painting.

CountryGirlInTheCity · 10/02/2026 18:18

A card and I will write a lovely message inside and DH will do the same. We may eat out or we will do a ‘dine in for two’. We used to buy gifts when we first met but that was a long time ago (we got together late teens). Now it’s hard enough finding a suitable present for his birthday (he never wants anything!) let alone made up events!
