Boobs in your face!

So I've been to a couple of wedding receptions recently and a formal event for DH's work.
Is it just me getting older or does anyone else notice the amount of women/ girls at these kind of events whose boobs are almost out?

I'm no prude but really? When did this become so widely appropriate? I'm not talking a bit of cleavage here, I'm talking everything on show, the whole lot out to a millimetre or two from the nipples.

I just wonder why so many girls these days feel the need to do this? Are they insecure about the rest of themselves? Or is it an empowerment thing- that they will know what every male who sees them that night will be thinking?

I for one would prefer not to be confronted by pairs of bare boobs in my face on a night out?
Has anyone else noticed this?

I agree with Op.

Mumsnet has a 'dominant opinon' of the day/times and usually outdated at that.
Today it's some sort of 'cool girl/wife'
Permissive thing. ' who cares/ why you looking/it's your problem if your looking/why can't men control themselves '

All very common things to here.
But it's 'cool girl' crap.

That dosent scratch the surface
for a feminist site.

People should wear what they want - within the social context. And understanding the 'social contract'
In your own home or a private gathering with like minded people or a social event where thats the norm- carry on.
Mixed generations/expectations - not so much.

The girls probably are just having fun but that's not to say there's nothing more to it.

I think I'm just glad I only have sons tbh. And I hear from my sons what boys think about girls that dress that way.

I suppose in a society that thinks sex work or what Bonnie Blue does is empowering to women then this is just another, milder manifestation of it.

That’s really not something to boast about. If anything it’s something to be ashamed of.

Declaring that your son’s are sexist and misogynistic isn’t the moral high ground you think it is

💯 👏

100% agree. I'd be so embarrassed if I had sons who were so damning about women and girls (who DARE to dress a little scantily) and so misogynistic. How embarrassing. 😫

The power to make men look is one of the very few forms of power that young females have. So they revel in it.
Meghan Trainer even had a song about it "I made you look".
They want men to look, discretely, but not to take any action, like speaking or approaching.

That’s acknowledging that the women who are dressing this way in formal/professional environments know exactly what they are doing ie, trying to get men to look at their tits even when out with their wives. That’s hardly behaviour worth celebrating.

Coconutter24 · 11/10/2025 16:39

Did your husband/wife look at a young woman’s boobs and it made you feel insecure?
It’s ridiculous to suggest women shouldn’t have there boobs out on show because they are around ‘attached’ men. It’s not women’s jobs to make sure we’re not leered at. How about the men just keep their eyes to themselves if they are with their wife and don’t want to disrespect her

OP, I'm with you. It's hard to 'keep your eyes to yourself' when it's nearly everyone. It's not like you're just avoiding looking at one person. And yes, I look! It doesn't turn me on but someone's I'm 😲. I think it's unfair to say it's the men's issue. If every other man at an event walked around in very tight penis-revealing trousers, it would be difficult to not to look or even feel attracted (even if 20 years younger than me). It doesn't mean I don't love my husband or that I'm a perv, it's just a natural reaction to sexual body parts. And yes, I did breastfeed for a long time, but boobs are still sexual.

@LittleJustice I work for the ambulance service and whenever we have to pick a drunk girl up she inevitably has her tits out.

It was an utterly vile and repugnant post. Just when you think you've seen it all on here!!!

What the heck is going on on here today?! Shock

ToldYouTwiceAlready · 11/10/2025 17:33

I took my 2 year old granddaughter to a mums and toddlers playgroup, and one of the mothers had a very low-cut and tight dress on (yes, she had a nice body, but she looked very out of place, and everyone stared at her (not in a pleasant way)

OK so obviously the boobs aren't literally in my face. What I meant was they're difficult not to notice - especially I would imagine if you're male.

As there will be a lot of attached men there with their partners, is it really appropriate to attend one of these events with your boobs very nearly out?

Do you mean a bit like the famous Liz Hurley dress with safety pins?

TroysMammy · 11/10/2025 17:33

A work colleague once had a boob on his head during a night out. He was sitting at a table and a female manager stood behind him and leant over to talk to someone across the table from him and a tit fell out of her dress and sat on his head!

Well gosh that descended quickly, women in a low cut top = prostitute??!! Well done!!

And we wonder why the patriarchy is still so alive and thriving

ruethewhirl · 11/10/2025 17:35

I've seen this a lot on Facebook among young (late teens/early 20s) women. Always looks to me like the dress is a bad fit. I think they just haven't learned yet that less is more.

Absolutely 💯

blacksax · 11/10/2025 17:36

If someone is the sort of person who wants to wear clothes so revealing they might just as well shout "LOOK!!! LOOK AT MY TITS!!!! PHWOAR LOOK AT THESE BEAUTIES!!!" then I feel sorry for them, to be honest. How sad to feel so lacking in anything else about yourself that you have to serve your breasts up in front of you on a plate in order to be noticed.

BatchCookBabe · 11/10/2025 17:37

This really is a dreadful thread. Sad

Oh come on OP, surely you’re not saying women should be careful of what they wear in case it distracts or tempts men?

Absolutely was going to say this! Jeez I thought we were in 2025. If a creepy man can’t stop himself from being a leech and staring at a women’s body then that is a him problem not the woman’s 🙄

I hope you're bringing your sons up to be more respectful of women than their friends appear to be.

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 11/10/2025 17:39

@LittleJusticeif they are making disparaging comments about women based on how they dress then they are misogynistic and sexist. But I see the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

Ahh finally you got to the problem.

Tell him to keep his eyes off the boobs because it makes you feel insecure.
