How long after birth did you wait before having sex?

It's been 23 days and i'm really horny but also really scared it might hurt - had an episiotomy and stitches. How long did other people wait.

DD1 2 weeks

DD2 can't remember as had a not quite 2 yr old as well as NB

do it much less these days

I think it took me 6 months before I could even think about it, I was so tired and sore!

They say 6 weeks usually- surprised you weren't told this in hospital- til you have had your PN check up. Unless it's all changed.

Mmmm might wait a bit longer. Don't want to do any permanent damage!!! Probably by the time I'm allowed to all urges will have passed

8 weeks with DS1
about 4 months with DS2
about 9 months with DS3

I have a very patient DH

about a week with DD3 - others were longer due to not good things going on at the time. Just use contraception, you're at your most fertile just after giving birth

DD1-1 year (i was single )
DD2-1 week.
DD3-2 weeks.

am I behind the times? Not that it matters to me as i won't behaving any more...

but I thought the advice was 6 weeks to make sure everything had gone back in the right place and was healed?

just take it easy and make sure you are relaxed and lubricated

Less than a week both times, but I'd had sections & wasn't bleeding much.

Can you have have oral instead and not do penetration?

If you want to try, if partner is okay about it then go for it, you dont know if you dont try. If it hurts than I am sure he wont mind if you stop intercourse.

Bloody hell, I lost interest completely after DD1. In fact it's a wonder DD2 was conceived at all as it must only have been a handful of times and DD1 was 10 months when I got pregnant again. I went off it again after DD2 but it's so long ago I can't remember how long after we started having sex again.

DS is 17 months now and it's been nearly 2 years since I had sex but that's because I'm single. I'm not horny in the slightest which is probably just as well.

Am at those who were horny after a few days/weeks! Jeez, the last thing I wanted was anyone or anything going near my fanjo for a long while.

4 weeks first time(forceps delivery, large episiotomy) was fine
10 weeks second time (elective section - but very heavy bleeding)

lurkinaround- totally agree! God, the stitches, the bleeding, the pain! I didn't want anything or anyone there for along time.

Something like 5 months I think. Dd screamed 20 hours a day until then, so I wasn't really in the mood .

9 weeks and 6 days.

Would have been sooner but the damn lochia lasted 9 weeks and 5 days!

12 weeks ish but had a 3rd degree tear and a few problems with stitches.

I waited about 5 weeks after dd1 because all my friends said they tried it in time to discuss with gp at 6 week check. Looking back that is such a silly reason. I didn't really want to do it, it was a bit uncomfortable but no harm done and dh was keen. After the next ones I gave it a bit longer; months rather than weeks but can't remember how many.
