Just for a bit of fun and interested in hearing the responses ☺️ And if anyone has any advice that would be welcomed, I am 21 and in a 3 year relationship with a guy who is lovely and would do anything for me. I have recently had a gut feeling that maybe I should have some freedom and meet other people rather than settle with my first ever serious boyfriend, but maybe IABU .

We met in the first week of our undergrad chemistry degrees, in the physics subsidiary lab, aged 18. We got together in the first summer vacation, married after our second chemistry degrees when we were 26 , we’re now 64.

We were penpals (I’m from the US and he is from England) when we were 16 & 17. We wrote to each other on and off for seven years before he visited me in the US. We knew instantly that we wanted to be together. That was 32 years ago and we’ve been married for 29 years.

spiderlight · 13/03/2025 16:45

No body is owned and things change so don't stress enjoy doing whatever u want with your dp and friends whilst you don't have kids.

I met ex husband at 17 worst thing I did was have a baby or be talked into one at 19 20 when we had her as life became a smaller bubble. We split on my 33rd birthday but we had good years. It's life and you do grow up. Sometimes you grow together and sometimes apart. I've got a bf now been together 2 years things ain't always good but take it day at a time. But I do not think you can guarantee you will be with someone forever as life changes. Main thing is train hard work hard ensure you can manage your hour independantly and do not under any circumstances ever become a sahm.

DramaAlpaca · 13/03/2025 17:28

I met him when I was 23, started dating him at 24 and married him two years later. Still married and we're in our 60s now.

80s · 13/03/2025 17:50

23: 20 years and two children together.
47: 8 years together so far, shame I wasn't in a relationship of this quality before, but I had no clue what I was missing. I'm all for trying out a few relationships for comparison/learning purposes!

VanGallus · 13/03/2025 19:08

I was 24 he was 31, we married 4 months after our 1st date.
together now for 44 years

Minor1000 · 14/03/2025 12:34

My boss said I had two weeks holiday due - use it or lose it so I went to the Isle of Man to watch the classic motorcycle racing (Manx Grand Prix). I used to go to the TT every year so this was a change. Met DW in the hotel I was staying in. I was on my third pint of Guinness when she came over to talk to me as apparently I looked interesting. Been together 23 years, married 20. Never touch Guinness since.

MrsJTH · 14/03/2025 13:17

We were both 25, that was 34 years ago
