Just for a bit of fun and interested in hearing the responses ☺️ And if anyone has any advice that would be welcomed, I am 21 and in a 3 year relationship with a guy who is lovely and would do anything for me. I have recently had a gut feeling that maybe I should have some freedom and meet other people rather than settle with my first ever serious boyfriend, but maybe IABU .

Myself and my 3 best friends all married young (early 20's) to men similar ages.
We've all been happy and still married c30 years later.
Nearly all friends/acquaintances who married much older have split up and gone through other break ups since.
I think that you definitely change as you get older, and the worry is you'll want different things, but if you've already got happy years of love and respect behind you, you'll make it work.
If possible, obviously.

Friends as teenagers, but nothing happened between us until our 20s. Together, 25 years and married for 21. He is still my person Smile

Rictasmorticia · 12/03/2025 21:58

I was 16 and he was 18 we met at a dance. Dated for 3 years and now married for 56 years.

Echobelly · 12/03/2025 22:06

Just short of turning 25. I'd had one 9-month-long relationship before I met him. Didn't feel any need to look any further or get round to sleeping with more people and I'm not the kind of person for whom there are 'plenty more fish in the sea' so no regrets. Been together 22 years.

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 13/03/2025 11:18

I was 17, he was 20. Been married 35 years.

Theoriginalmrscillianmurphy · 13/03/2025 13:30

I met my ex husband when I sent a text message to the wrong number.

I met my current partner and hopefully my partner for life in work.

WeirdBarbieKenergy · 13/03/2025 13:34

I was 19, married aged 21 and I'm now 45.
I thank my lucky stars every day that I didn't have to kiss too many frogs before we met ☺️

Daniki · 13/03/2025 13:39

I was 23, met him in Australia. I was in a weird FWB situation and got fucked over by them. Went travelling on the east coast with my friends then and met my current husband there he was also travelling the east coast and was friends with a fella on our trip, the rest is history! That was 13 years ago 🙂 wasn’t expecting to meet anyone. And as they say it happens when you least expect it!

spudnik1 · 13/03/2025 13:51

16 met at school.

We are in our 40s now with 2 kids and still happily married.
However, we have changed as people as we have grown up. Both as people and physically.

OneQuirkyPanda · 13/03/2025 14:17

I was 25, she was 27, been together ten years, married for three.

EveryKneeShallBow · 13/03/2025 14:34

I was 15. We were married 35 years, and together 41 years until he died.

Boopeedoop · 13/03/2025 14:39

Met when I was 17, he was 21.
Been together 30 years this year. Wouldn't want to be with anyone else.

mumto2teenagers · 13/03/2025 14:46

I was 19 and he was 22, I knew pretty much straight away.

Pllystyrene · 13/03/2025 15:20

I was 17 when we met and 21 one when we started seeing each other, have been together almost 20 year now. Married for 10 and have 3 children. But it doesn't matter what strangers on the internet did, go with your gut! If it doesn't feel right is probably isn't! You're still young you have a life time a head of you, you don't need to decide on forever at 21 ❤️ x

passmeaglass · 13/03/2025 15:26

I was 35. Really wanted my ex who I met at 29 to be it but he wasn’t. Most of my 20s I wasn’t ready to settle down even though I thought I was/wanted to be. I think the key is knowing what you want out of life and who you are, if that changes which it often does in early adulthood, then growing apart is more likely.
