Just for a bit of fun and interested in hearing the responses ☺️ And if anyone has any advice that would be welcomed, I am 21 and in a 3 year relationship with a guy who is lovely and would do anything for me. I have recently had a gut feeling that maybe I should have some freedom and meet other people rather than settle with my first ever serious boyfriend, but maybe IABU .

  1. Got married at 20 but knew in my heart it wouldn't last.

Met current DH at 33 and been together for over 30 years now.

Pigsinblankets13 · 12/03/2025 17:28

Met ex fiance at 22 and was going to get married at 25...luckily he ran off with someone from his work so I could do lots of dating to meet a range of different people from all different walks of life and then went on to meet my amazing DH at 26!

Very easy to be blinded by 'love' when young and naive like I was...easy to overlook red flags.

He may very well be the love of your life, he may very well not be. Time will tell. Don't accept anything less than the best x

sunshineandshowers40 · 12/03/2025 17:30

26 years old and together 20 years now

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 12/03/2025 17:31

31 ( now 72)

DH claims ( and he’s probably right) that we actually met about seven years before that, but that passed as ships in the night. I remember being at a meeting with him three years later and being vaguely interested, but he was off to the airport to pick up his girlfriend.

So third time lucky

EveryDayisFriday · 12/03/2025 17:33

HighlandCowbag · 12/03/2025 17:33

I was 20! Had a 3 month 'thing' then amicably went our separate ways. Met him again at 29, we've been together 18 years married for 7.

WithASpider · 12/03/2025 17:33

Cotswoldmama · 12/03/2025 17:36

A few months before I turned 18, we've been together 24 years and married 13 this year ♥️

LoyalAquaOtter · 12/03/2025 17:38
  1. I suppose I don't know if it is for life yet, I'm almost 40 so it's been over 20 years.
hoodiemassive · 12/03/2025 17:39

Dh was 20 and I was 28. I was very, very cautious given the age gap and tried to encourage him to do his own thing for a while but he was sure.

Together now for 23 years, very happy.

AnnieMay55 · 12/03/2025 17:39

HappydaysArehere · 12/03/2025 17:00

I was 16 in 1957. DH was 18 months older. Married in 1960 so our 24th anniversary in June. Ups and downs but so happy together.

If you married in 1960, you bae been married for 65 years.

Tangomango1 · 12/03/2025 17:49

I was 24 and he was 21. 33 yrs ago. I had a few relationships before him (wink wink) and I was even engaged to someone else and on the rebound?? The night we met, I knew that night he was the one.

I can't explain it & it sounds a load of shite but it is true. I trusted him the moment we met & he has NEVER let me down. 2 kids & numerous pets, deaths in the family, rows & arguments later & I still love him 😍
