Just for a bit of fun and interested in hearing the responses ☺️ And if anyone has any advice that would be welcomed, I am 21 and in a 3 year relationship with a guy who is lovely and would do anything for me. I have recently had a gut feeling that maybe I should have some freedom and meet other people rather than settle with my first ever serious boyfriend, but maybe IABU .

19 and he was 27, which seems young and a big age gap to me now. We were long distance for three years, as I was a student. We've been together over 40 years now with a grown up daughter. Ups and downs, but mostly ups.

Beaverbridge · 12/03/2025 18:27

21 divorced when I was 32.
Various non serious relationships till I was 44. He was 43. Still together. Met on a Saturday day drinking session, both in groups of other people.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 12/03/2025 18:28
  1. Still single 😂
VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 12/03/2025 18:31

I was 24. We'd vaguely known each other for about 2 years, a couple of friends in common. And then one night we stuck our tongues down each others throats on the dance floor and the rest is history. We're coming up on 20 years together now.

Quackajack · 12/03/2025 18:38

We met at 19 and 20 years old been together 20 years and married 10 years

Namechange6578 · 12/03/2025 18:43

Like a lot of others, I was young too so I wouldn't worry about it if it feels right!

I was 18 and a half, he was almost 19. Been together over 25 years!

I did have quite a lively social life meeting boys from 17 until then though 😉 so maybe I got it out my system before I met OH!

Mamadothehump · 12/03/2025 18:46

afaloren · 12/03/2025 19:59

I was 24 now-DH was 21. Still together 20 years later. When you know you know.

Thepossibility · 12/03/2025 20:03

I was 19 and he was 18! I wouldn't recommend settling down that early with any other man but he is the exception. I knew if I let him go he'd be snapped up very quickly. We are 40's now. We met in a nightclub.

Cosyvibes · 12/03/2025 20:08

gannett · 12/03/2025 20:19

A month after my 30th birthday, at a house party that lasted two days. Intended as a one-night stand but he's still here 11 years later.

We had several mutual friends who'd never seen fit to introduce is, which was for the best as I was only barely ready for a relationship when we met and it wouldn't have worked out before that.

I don't think there are any real rules about when you find your life partner. Most people don't last the distance with their teenage sweetheart... but some do.

I think the most important pieces of advice I'd give are firstly, too many women fixate on what he feels about you - wrong way round, it's what you feel about him that should guide you. And secondly in this era of red flags here and green flags there, remember that compatibility is the most important thing and it's individual to you, not everyone else.

Iloveeverycat · 12/03/2025 20:22

16 still together now 60

foxandbee · 12/03/2025 20:23

25-Met again around 5 years later and became friends. Got together about 7 years after that. Been together 24 years now.

16 and a few months. He was 18. I went to uni for 4 years. Married at 23. 35th anniversary this year.

Seawolves · 12/03/2025 20:37

I was 53, we had 8 very happy years together.

Beebsta · 12/03/2025 20:38

28, nearly 29. I’m glad none of the others lasted, they weren’t right for me.

merryhouse · 12/03/2025 20:39

I was nearly 20, H was 22. That was in 1989.

One of my schoolfriends is still with her 5th-year (Y11) boyfriend. They have grandchildren.
