Can you get over bad teeth when potentially dating someone?

I feel terrible and shallow but... I've recently reconnected with someone I used to see a lot when I was younger. Nothing ever materialised but we recently connected on social media. After exchanging a few recent photos.. he sent me one of him smiling and omg his teeth... he's missing a fair few, yellow, crooked and broken...

I always liked him and never recall him having bad teeth... but they're really noticeable and I don't want it to put me off but they do....

Is there anyway getting past bad teeth when you're dating when it's an otherwise really lovely guy who you know would treat you really well?.....

I'm going to look over the heightened debate on this thread!

So contextually, his teeth are yellow almost browning, crooked, broken and there are molars missing on each side with are very obvious.. I wish I could get past that but it's just attraction isn't it. It's in no way meaning that I'm judgemental of his finances or oral hygiene, it could be a result of a bad childhood or upbringing where oral hygiene wasn't taken seriously or it could be issues that emerged later on in life.. I really don't know. I couldn't exactly ask him how high up fixing his teeth are on his list of priorities without coming across as incredibly shallow.

It would be the same as asking someone if they plan to lose a couple of stone, only you can decide if the two of you are in the right place for that kind of conversation. He might be offended, or he might explain the situation so you understand a bit more. Maybe he is someone that couldn’t care less about his oral health, or maybe he is doing something about it, or unable to do anything about it. Only you can decide if he ticks the boxes in all the other ways, and if there is attraction there. Best way to think about it is, are you happy to lose him- if so, break up. Also have a think about any perceived flaws you might have and how you’d feel if he asked you if you planned to do anything about that- for example get a boob job or lose some weight. I think then you’ll have your answer. Some people are more than happy to have those discussions, others would be deeply offended. You could start a basic conversation like, “I’ve got a dental appointment next week, where do you go to the dentist”, it would be the same as someone saying “I like going running, do you go to the gym or do any exercise” rather than straight up “you’re a fat fuck, how about shedding a few stone”, or “your teeth are rank, are you going to fix them”

Nope, for me, any form of poor personal care/hygiene and there wouldn't even be a first date, let alone more. Whether it's rotten teeth, bad breath, BO, greasy hair, unkempt hair, dirty/smelly clothes, dirt under finger nails, etc etc. There's no way I'm getting intimate with anyone who's not "clean and tidy"!
