How did you meet your husband?

Was it how you expected to meet ‘your husband’?

Watching SATC (again) and always makes me reminisce about relationships.

I will start.

My husband was defo not who I expected to settle down with. I went away for uni, lived in a different city for several years, worked with people from all around the country and the world.

And I ended up marrying a lad I had a crush on at school in year 7. 😂 Live in a small town where people tend to settle down quite young. At 29 I despaired of the dating pool in my area and had sworn off relationships. Just went on a date with my husband cos found him very fit and the rest is history…

I really love stories where it was totally unexpected so please share ❤️

Blind date - suggested by someone I worked with but we weren't particularly close at all.
Together 20 Years, married for 13, 3 DCs, 2 Dogs later.. guess you could say this Friend knew something we didn't!

I'll try to add a bit more info without outing myself... Reading someone else's post jogged my memory as to why I started working at that particular school.

I was originally supposed to report to another school for interview. At the last minute, I got a letter telling me to head to a different school. (I was straight out of college.)

I was offered the job on the spot, but not shown round the school. I was young and naive, so didn't think it strange. I took the job.

After I signed the contract, I was shown round the school - a week or so later. The teacher that I was replacing came to see me.

"Has anyone told you why I'm leaving?"

"No..."

"A kid swore at me and I clipped his ear."

This was the 1980s. The LA moved him to the school I was supposed to be going to in order to avoid a scandal. (Apparently, that was enough to satisfy the parent.)

I had completely forgotten that aspect...I feel more than a bit weird about that.

Nowadays, the other teacher would have been sacked. I believe he stayed out of trouble the rest of this teaching career.
