AIBU that he invited his friends to spend NYE with us?

Me and my partner got engaged last NYE so its our anniversary date. I have been pretty relaxed about plans this year; he suggested we go for dinner in town and then maybe back over to his sisters house (who has his other sister over, and her kids) after dinner. We were going to play it by ear, but he mentioned today that his 2 friends have asked what he is doing and he has invited them over to the sisters after too.
I don't want to sound hard work (I know mumsnet users love slamming that on people) but wonder if the friends going have now made it feel like a un-family related event, one of the friends is single so will come along and most likely now smoke drink and smoke weed with my partner (partner probably wouldn't of done this without friends there) and one of them is in a relationship but no mention of bringing her. Would you be annoyed your fiance didn't run this by you first or not bothered at al?

Err they DO sell weed in shops in many many countries.

People who are stoned are less.likely to fight than drunk people

Do they? Well why is it illegal to sell it here in the UK then?

People are stoned are less likely to fight than drunk people because as @Sjh15 says it changes the character of the person. Their personality. But don’t doubt that when the weed wears off or if they mix it with alcohol like many of them do, the rages can be bad. My normally quite passive DB would have physical fights with his girlfriend who would fight back. I’m not condoning either of their violence because they were both as bad as each other (and both smoked a lot of weed) but when it changes your personality so much it can obliterate years of your life. Well it did in their case though they did both work.

They sell weed in coffee shops in Amsterdam and it’s legal all over Canada and sold in shops. In Portugal all drugs are legal and class As can only be taken in controlled environments. The legality of drugs is arbitrary and has nothing to do with their innate danger or “badness”, especially weed. Cigarettes are legal but they’re the biggest cause of lung cancer.

Weed affects brain chemistry and creates mental health issues.

Smoking weed everyday? What all day? Same as alcohol. Should be in moderation.

Nothing wrong with a toke on a weekend if it's for recreational use. Same as alcohol. Moderation.

I don't really drink. I do have a brownie or a few tokes of a weekend or now and again whilst my DH has a drink. Neither of us are drunk or off our faces.

If he's stoned all the time then cut your losses.

Well I'm in Canada and high as I write this.

I don't drink. I don't smoke often. I eat edibles and love them.

What is the difference between alcohol and weed? Alcohol is far more deadly.

Do you make your own or buy them? If you don't mind me asking.

I buy them. I've never made my own to be honest! I should try!

I grew up in BC on the island and marijuana even before being legal in Canada was never a big thing there. Most teens smoked it at some point. We had some of the best in the world.

I usually take it for my endometriosis and migraines.

But I do enjoy it on the weekend and it definitely helps my OCD/ADHD.

I think depending on cultures, age, or even exposure, people have different views on weed and alcohol.

I personally rarely rarely drink. I don't enjoy it or the health effects. In my biological family drugs and alcohol have destroyed lives, but alcohol has done some of the most damage.

My bio grandpa died at 42 from alcohol induced liver cancer. My dad from a drug overdose. I'm not naive or unexposed.

That's just my two cents.

@Josette77 BC looks beautiful. 😍 I've never been to Canada but it looks amazing.
