To the lady on the London tube train that passed me a message to say I'm worth more, I would like to say a massive thank you for saving me from continuing an abusive relationship. The message is in a frame and is keeping me strong. I hope you see this x

How lovely OP. I hope she sees this somehow. I’m glad you saw it.

GoodChat · 06/05/2023 11:09

Oh that's incredible. I hope she sees this. Thank you to that lady and well done to you for changing your course!

Allycat · 06/05/2023 11:10

So am I 😁

DojaPhat · 06/05/2023 11:10

How did this come about?

GretaGip · 06/05/2023 11:11

You be proud of yourself

Did the lady in the tube witness something? I'm sorry you've been through tough times.

That's inspirational - for all potential ladies on the tube.

You have to tell us the back story, please.

QuickGuide · 06/05/2023 11:20

Goodness, what a lovely story. When did this happen, how did it come about and what happened as a result?

Allycat · 06/05/2023 11:28

We had been to a London show and had both had a few too many. He is a big drinker and when we drink i cant always remeber what's been said. He says nasty things and recently it had been getting worse. I can't remember exactly what he said to me. He stormed off the tube and she came over and gave me the note and also said it. I thanked her and gave her a massive hug. It proved to me how nasty he can be and the blame wasn't always mine. Until that moment I couldn't defend myself, as I couldn't always remember.

Gosh that made me tear up. Well done, OP - and that woman for reaching out.

Mariposista · 06/05/2023 12:54

What a wonderful lady. I how you two are reunited one day, unlikely as that is.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 06/05/2023 12:55

Keep strong and believe you are worth more as he will get worse and no one deserves that kind of life. I left an ex 22 years ago for my baby's sake and did not want that life for us. He would start no matter where we were, and it was awful and embarrassing and nothing beats peace of mind. Keep posting to get support and reach out to women's aid as they will help you also.

Allycat · 06/05/2023 13:29

Luckily he lives 1.5hrs away and there's nothing to tie us together, as it's a later relationship. I'm so grateful of that. By now we would be in the pub on our 2nd bottle. Instead I've spent the day cleaning and chatting to my son. Meeting a friend late afternoon today for a chat and a giggle. Something else I was never allowed to do without him punishing me for a week.
For everyone in the same place, or if you recognise this happening to someone else, be the lady on the tube. I know I will. Have a great long weekend to you all xx

How lovely of that woman. Well done her!

You might want to look at your alcohol consumption if you're forgetting what you said and what people said to you after a few drinks.

Onward and upward!

Pudmyboy · 06/05/2023 13:43

What an angel she was, and to come at the right time for you to take on board what she said!
Wishing you Good luck and happiness for your future @Allycat

UWhatNow · 06/05/2023 13:47

Perfect words. I love that you have framed them to remember that moment. Angels are real!

Allycat · 06/05/2023 14:08

Piedbeauty I am already addressing that, as well as a few other things. I've been a bit down trodden and stopped taking so much care of myself as he was affecting my self esteem. Dyed my hair already today and will do my nails and get dressed up for my afternoon out, not for anyone else but me. I need to learn to enjoy my own company, love myself and reset my boundaries. New beginnings 😁

Good for you @Allycat!

Well done to that woman on the tube as well. If ever there was a sliding doors moment, this would be it. What if she missed that tube and took another one? What if you got onto a different carriage of the tube and not the one she was in?

May you have a wonderfully long and happy life!

Malarandras · 06/05/2023 14:16

Thank you for posting this. It’s a great reminder that there are good people out there as well as a positive story for those in abusive relationships.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 06/05/2023 14:37

Well done that woman - and well done OP for heeding that advice. You're definitely worth more and now you're free!

Your post was truly lovely to read and how kind of that lady to do what she did. You are doing all the right things regarding resetting your boundaries and building up your self-esteem. It is so easy to lose sight of who you are and your worth. Wishing you all the best going forward.

Allycat · 06/05/2023 14:59

I would love to reply to each and everyone of you individually, so thank you. If my post give one person in this situation some strength and belief in themselves and others, then it was more than worthwhile. Getting ready now for an afternoon with my friend. Have a lovely weekend, despite the rain and I wish you all the happiness in the world xx

BatshitCrazyWoman · 06/05/2023 15:50

Oh that's made me cry. I'm glad you left him OP, and have a lovely afternoon with your friend.
