Why? I have never seen a forum communicate by the use of so many abbreviations.
I read some posts and do not have a clue what the heck is going on because of the use of abbreviations.
Is this a woke thing?

Yes, I will do that. Thanks.
Why are you so nasty? Does the simple matter of raising an issue to do with communication offend you?

I will delete my account on Mumsnet. Thanks for YH. IWYW. GB.

And you are still here....

If you don't like a forum, then stop going there? I don't like all the fluffy shit in signatures on netmums, shock I don't go there and post telling them to change the way they work

Should I not be here? Is it for you or others to say?
I do not seek approval for how I use a forum. I would never question any post you publish or question you ask. I am happy for freedom of expression.

Why are you adopting such a crass attitude? Are you that offended?
I did not force you to read or reply - although I do not mind that you have.

BadForBusiness · 19/03/2023 10:12

FYI there's an important and useful one not on that list: FOTTFSOF. It's from the Thick of It and it's terribly handy, but for some reason MNHQ never include in their list HTH.

Skeuomorph · 19/03/2023 10:14

I’m kind of impressed that you can get this angry by 7am on a Sunday about something so insignificant.

Franceen · 19/03/2023 10:16

LOL I love that show.

I really hate the use of D especially DDog and Dcat

So do I.

blumppump · 19/03/2023 10:19

I still don't understand what I said that was so nasty.

I don't like Reddit. I can't get on with it. So I don't use it.

I don't go on Reddit and tell them they're doing the internet all wrong.

LOL I love that show.

You're going to need to get the hang of quoting as well unless if course that post was intended to be a random apropos nothing statement

It's so strange that everyone who posts this samte thead when joining a forum that been going for ages doesn't realise that maybe thats the way it works and that if they want to stay they need to adapt

I cant make head nor tail if Reddit but I'd be pretty stuoid to go on there and comolain about how it works

blumppump · 19/03/2023 10:20

And I gave rational replies? I even went and got the link to the acronyms for you.

Why are you so rude?

How funny that I posted exactly the same at the same time 😂

i don't mind.

X post @TimeForMeToF1y 😂😂😂

Lysianthus · 19/03/2023 10:34

You posted originally on the wrong board. There's also a board called Flouncers' Corner so I suggest that might be the place for you now, you'll feel more at home.

neighboursmustliveon · 19/03/2023 12:07

I used to work with someone who complained about all the acronyms etc we used at work - used within the team. He thought it was unprofessional. I pointed out we worked for the NHS! If our employer can shorten their name to letters, we can do the same to some processes.

moistclam · 19/03/2023 12:39

I agree, I hate all the abbreviations, I wish folk would just write out the full words!

I have issues with fine motor control and the abbreviations are a handy shorthand for me.

I'm also autistic and they help me feel like I'm joining in and "belong" (which I only realised was a thing when it was explained on this thread).

Yes of course. Thanks. It is irrational to express in abbreviations.

Irrational?

Why?

GretaGip · 19/03/2023 14:11

While we're here, OP, shouty thread titles are frowned upon.

HTH Smile

Sandysandwich · 19/03/2023 14:29

Most of them are easy enough to guess.
I do always read STBXH as STupid Bastard eX Husband, which to be fair does usually fit contextually.

Dery · 19/03/2023 14:47

@Sandysandwich - yes, and I remember a poster saying they thought “not RTFT” stood for “not read the f*king thread” 😄. As you say - also works quite well in context.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 19/03/2023 14:48

And let's not forget the very apt ODFOD

merrymelodies · 19/03/2023 14:52

If anything is irrational here, it's your pugnacious behaviour, Original Poster.
