Yes they can.

MrsMattie · 11/02/2008 14:08

Yes, it's possible.

JingleyJen · 11/02/2008 14:08

yes, I have male friends / however I do get a touch of the green eyed monster when Dh has female friends (not that I let him know though)

Iota · 11/02/2008 14:08

yes, definitely

harleyd · 11/02/2008 14:08

yes of course they can

unknownrebelbang · 11/02/2008 14:08

Yes.

AnnabelCaramel · 11/02/2008 14:08

yep

Anna8888 · 11/02/2008 14:09

Yes, of course.

harpsichordcarrier · 11/02/2008 14:09

yes, of course.
in the same way as we don't need chaperones any more and we are allowed to vote

hunkermunker · 11/02/2008 14:10

Yes, what Harpsi said.

But not every woman could do it. And nor could every man.

Jazzicatz · 11/02/2008 14:11

I have quite a few male friends that are purely platonic - but I still find myself thinking about them as men as well as fiends - if ya know what I mean!!!

beansontoast · 11/02/2008 14:11

i think so
dh has a bezzy mate who is absolutely drop dead gorgeous, and i MEAN delish,

wouldnt touch him with yours, but he comes round some days to have a brew with me and knows that dh is out.

must add we have been friends for about 20 years and he is very trusted and just a piece of the furniture, despite his good looks, he is a great pal to us both.
dh has no problems with ti at all.

BITCAT · 11/02/2008 14:47

Yes def, i had lots of male friends when i was at college and i still do know, i've never had a problem with it, infact i seem to get on with men far better than women sometimes, not so bitchy (sorry girls!!) and most of them somewhat younger than me dh doesn't have a problem with that and if he did i would have told him where to go!! It's all a matter of trust really isn't it and some men (and women) are very insecure and paranoid!! In any case i think we all window shop and have a look if we see a gorgeous man in the street but thats natural and it doesn't mean that we love our dhs any less.

Lulumama · 11/02/2008 14:49

you can have male friends, find them attractive, even have a little idle fantasy.. but that is where it should end.

you are human, you are allowed to find men attractive! nowt wrong with that

I have male friends, who I can talk with about anything when I see them. However, if I was single and everyone was willing, I would probably be happy to do half of them. It's nature.

WelliesAndPyjamas · 11/02/2008 16:54

My point being that as long as I don't find them attractive then yes, it would be possible to be just friends.

yes but if you fancy them, you have to shag them first and get it out of your system.

Kewcumber · 11/02/2008 16:57

can gay men have male friends and be just friends, ditto lesbian women?
