Sex with partner with baby sleeping in the same room, acceptable or not?

I seem to have opened a can of worms with my previous thread and now I’m interested in opinions? Will probably be another can of worms.

yes or no? Baby sleeping in own cot in the same room which they should be for 6 months.

OP posts:

Well for the first six months baby is supposed to be in the same room as you at all times anyway, especially asleep. So you either have sex with baby in the room (horror, your baby will be scarred for life), disobey safe sleep guidelines and go have sex in another room (grab your pitchforks) or you don't have any sex at all (but then you have to let your partner leave you and find someone that can fulfil their needs 🙄).

There is no right answer, someone here will tell you you don't deserve your baby or partner whatever you choose! If you want to have sex have sex, decide where you're more comfortable doing it and do it there. If you don't want sex, don't have sex, but if its coming up 6 months you might want to have a think about why and what you might want to do about it, e.g. partner taking baby so you can do some self care like get more sleep or go to gym, get hair/nails done etc or grandparent babysit so you can have a date night and feel more connected. Whatever makes you feel more you rather than mum mode.

People shouldn't be shaming others with words like 'grubby', it's just personal choice. Without it the baby wouldn't be there in the first place!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 01/03/2023 13:46

It's fine, what is offputting is a cat that starts watching. 😨

Or a dog. Mine used to stare with utmost fascination until I chucked a blanket over her!

Season0fTheWitch · 01/03/2023 14:11

It's fine if they're asleep, and you're quiet. We've done it once or twice but usually try to go to a different room.

SleepingStandingUp · 01/03/2023 14:13

Cornelious2011 · 01/03/2023 12:36

I don't see an issue with it. The baby had no knowledge of what you're doing and wouldn't remember it. Surely this was how babies have been conceived for centuries all around the world.

Exactly. This idea that a fairly new baby will some how understand that their parents are fornicating, will carry this mental scar into adulthood is ridiculous.

And I wouldn't have noticed an open eye cos I never looked at them whilst fornicating with their father.

Popatop · 01/03/2023 14:16

Gross to me personally. Go in a different room?!

Absolutely this!

Fourth bonus option: OP in the room with the baby, partner in the hall and a sort of reach around behind the doorway handjob is engineered, thus meeting safe sleep guidelines and avoiding scenario one and two.

At what age are you allowed to stick them in a Jumparoo with some chocolate buttons and CBeebies to go for a quickie?

SleepingStandingUp · 01/03/2023 14:21

Shoxfordian · 01/03/2023 12:49

Just go have sex in another room

So you're leaving your baby to sleep alone, which is against all the guidelines, just so you can have sex in the kitchen? Sounds like you're putting your needs ahead of your child's

Oh god yes. So off putting. Personal highlight was one climbing onto DH's chest and sitting there Grin

SleepingStandingUp · 01/03/2023 14:25

I'm going to become a sex Nanny.

As long as the child sleeps in your room, I'll pop round (you can book me in 30 increments) and I'll keep DS in the room of your choice whilst you have sex elsewhere, and we'll keep CBEEBIES on so we can't hear you copulating.

Reckon I could get an hour off most people. Man pays for the first hour to get sex, woman pays for the extra time to make sure you gets foreplay and an orgasm.

How much?

CallMeDaddy58 · 01/03/2023 14:25

I don’t think it’s morally, just gross and deeply unsexy. Have sex literally anywhere else in the house. Use your imagination.

BadNomad · 01/03/2023 14:26

Put the baby in the kitchen while you have sex in the bedroom.

ladykale · 01/03/2023 14:27

BoredOfThisMansWorld · 01/03/2023 12:55

It's absolutely fine. Not all of us live in big houses.

Exactly. These responses are ridiculous.

Oh FFS. With a 6 month old baby nobody is having an hour long fuck fest. Just a 10/15 minute quickie.

What do you think single parents do if they need a shit and the babies sleeping? Wake it up and take it into the bathroom with them?

30 minutes of sex when you’ve got a breastfeeding Velcro baby sounds dreadful, let alone an hour 😱 could you offer a quickie 5-minute option for harassed, touched-out mothers? Minimum call-out fee applies.

I like my sex to last linger than a shit, personally

bakewellbride · 01/03/2023 14:30

We did this when ds was aged 3-5 months. He was fast asleep and clueless, I don't see what the problem could possibly be.

Nah, but I'll keep you company with a cuppa and I'll hold your baby whilst he goes for a wank 😊

If it’s taking you 10/15 minutes to poo I would prioritise drinking more water and adding some fibre to your diet over having sex in front of a baby.

SleepingStandingUp · 01/03/2023 14:31

Or just nap the other 25 minutes

& I like my sex…sexy. Not in the pitch black, silent, under the covers with the sound of my baby sleeping feet away.

Sazza26xx · 01/03/2023 14:32

I personally didn't, it doesn't sit right with me but that's just my opinion

No one said anything about it taking 15 minutes to have a shit.

Merely commenting on the idea that you cannot leave a 6 month old baby sleeping in their own cot alone for a single second without them immediately dying 🙄 You have to leave them sleeping alone in a room for short periods of time for all sorts of reasons, one of which being having a shit.

Does everyone go to bed at 7pm the same as their 6 month old and just not leave the bedroom at all until morning? No one has dinner while they watch their baby on the monitor and checks on them periodically? Surely people are not literally going to bed at the same time as their 6 month old every night? Come on.
