Valentines gifts.. what to get your husband?

Flowerpetal10 · 03/02/2023 11:24

so every year I struggle to get my husband a gift.. usually aftershave or a game for his console sometimes a bottle of spirit like whisky. This year I have no clue and so far got him a card and chocolate. Anyone got any ideas? Why are men so hard to buy for!? I want him to feel appreciated. He always gets me a thoughtful card, beautiful flowers and chocolates sometimes perfume or pjs or bath stuff but I think it’s easy buying for a women on valentines.

Mine is getting a bottle of single malt, chocolates and 2 scents from Perfume Parlour

Sparkletastic · 03/02/2023 11:48

I don't think it pays to be too imaginative with gifts for most men. They like what they like.

Justcallmebebes · 03/02/2023 12:08

Mine gets nowt

Zanatdy · 03/02/2023 16:03

Well mines not my husband but my boyfriend and I’ve bought him something from Love Honey! I suspect he will like! I wasn’t sure if to get something like that or a proper gift. Might get some wine also, and have some chocolate hearts. Men are hard to buy for.

LarryStylinson · 03/02/2023 16:04

Mine is getting a divorce 🤷‍♀️

Todaynotalways · 03/02/2023 16:05

DH and I do the same every year which is he buys flowers, I buy chocolates, then we sit and eat the chocolates and admire the flowers.

We also get each other a card.

And we cook a nicer than normal dinner.

Lucky man 🤣😂

LubaLuca · 03/02/2023 16:06

Normally a book. Not romantic, but he knows what he likes and it isn't romance 😀

Slimjimtobe · 03/02/2023 16:06

I just get mine chocolates 🍫
he gets me flowers 💐

we keep it simple

Dillydollydingdong · 03/02/2023 16:07

We go out for dinner somewhere nice

Bibbitybobbityboot · 03/02/2023 16:09

I've bought mine a box of nice biscuits from an online delivery place.

yesterdayisgone · 03/02/2023 16:09

Some toys from lovehoney and butler style boxers cuffs and dickie bow so he can serve me properly 😂

frozendaisy · 03/02/2023 19:28

Commercial claptrap but if I were to do it the best quality of his favourite meat, think steak.

Job done.

We normally just have a special meal at home but this year it's the day before MiL's funeral so I think this year it won't be celebrated

TheChosenTwo · 03/02/2023 19:33

Absolutely nothing.
dh came home today with my favourite bottle of vodka, a gorgeous bunch of pink and white roses and had been home via the hairdressers and booked and paid for my next appointment for me because he knew I’d been horribly stressed at work and with some family shit this past couple of weeks.
Love and kindness are shown organically here, not on a day that says you have to.

TheChosenTwo · 03/02/2023 19:34

Oh, but he’s taking the dc to Harry Potter studios on valentines day because I’m working and it was the first suitable date when he booked it back in November 😂

BigSighsAllRound · 03/02/2023 19:38

Last year I bought my boyfriend a framed print of the martyrdom of Saint Valentine and he bought me a selection of cheap looking sex toys, and there didn't seem much left to say after that and we split up in a rather desultory fashion.

🙄

The first two words would have sufficed for an answer to OP’s question. No need for the rest of your sanctimonious speech.

Season0fTheWitch · 03/02/2023 19:41

Dh is getting:
A woodwick candle
Bottle of naice rum
Book
Plant
Card
And some sex toys!

sunseaandme · 03/02/2023 19:46

I bought my DH a print from Etsy with some lyrics to our first dance song on and their our names and wedding date underneath x

nc1013 · 03/02/2023 19:47

@GiltEdges there's absolutely nothing wrong with the post by @TheChosenTwo

She's making the point that we shouldn't be forced to buy something on a set date to prove your love. Gestures that someone does because they are thinking of you and caring about you mean a million times more than "oh shit it's Valentine's Day, what can I buy OP"

I don't have an issue with either and each to their own, but no need to be jealous/nasty about it

The usual really, flowers and chocolates. We make sure we have the whole day to ourselves and also go out to dinner or a show in the evening. I don't buy gifts but next year going to surprise him with a trip to Edinburgh complete with nice hotel. He's never been and I know he'd love to.

Needmorelego · 03/02/2023 20:03

I get 2 cards - one for my husband, one for my daughter.
I make at little Valentine's display on top of the bookcase with homemade felt hearts, red string lights, fake red flowers etc (this will be up for a week or so).
Might buy some pink donuts or red velvet cupcakes.

TheChosenTwo · 03/02/2023 20:04

@GiltEdges 😂😂😂
sorry to have ruffled your feathers!

Was just pointing out that we just do nice things for each other regardless of the date. Apologies for any offence and sanctimony.
