How to find out who's number this is?

I have been suspicious for a while but found a text on husbands phone with the message.. Happy new year, I love you ❤️ Have checked its not family on both sides. Do I just call?

If it’s continuously going to voicemail it might be a person who has blocked all calls from withheld numbers. If that’s the case it may ring once/ twice and then got to voicemail. I’d buy another sim and try that way

For Someone to be texting I love you how can it be a wrong number? If it’s someone close enough for them to be saying I love you wouldn’t they have their number stored?

I've had them and it definitely wasn't meant for me. They recycle phone numbers too so I think mine used to be someone else's because I always get wished a happy Eid by a random stranger and I'm not Muslim.

Calling from a new sim won’t work, it will still be classed as an unknown number even if not withheld. If you have this feature enabled, any numbers that are not in your contacts will get sent to voicemail.

My phone has a setting on it where you can block withheld numbers, I can also block ‘unknown’ numbers too and choose to only accept calls from my contacts. So it is possible that a new sim might work

I think it depends on the phone. iPhone has the function to silence unknown callers, you’ll get a notification that the number has tried to call you but the call is sent straight to voicemail. It applies to withheld and any numbers not in contacts unfortunately, no way to separate them both will just get sent to voicemail.

I have received weird texts myself. Not to that extent but basically like I knew the person when I did not.

Some are used for phishing and I don’t text back as they will check to see if your number is working to start up their scams…

i never got anything saying specifically happy new year i love you but maybe flirty? As if they knew me.

Could be a long ago ex as well. Lord knows many of us here have had that happen. Someone from forever ago getting into their cups and likely messaging their whole phone …. Gah

id google that number for sure. I’d keep my eyes open but I wouldn’t say ANYTHING yet. So many always show their cards too early. while others find evidence and still continue to find more.. sigh
