I think I am in love with Charles Walker

All I know of him is this two minute video, but, By God, what a man. Just loved the way he expressed himself. Kept his voice calm and moderated, and used his words to powerfully convey his meaning and emotion. No angry voice, no raised voice, no aggressive body language, no foot stomping. Bet he never slammed the door on his way out. Just used words to strongly convey meaning (without swearing too).

I think I am in love. I want him to be my children's Father. What excellent modelling of how to handle and express your feelings when you are livid.

I'm genuinely going to use this video to show my boys what they (and I!) should be aiming for in how we convey our angry feelings.

And I agreed with what he said. Which helps.

I'm in love. He's my new crush.

Me too. I’d have snogged him there and then.

WannabeMrsWalker · 20/10/2022 15:04

I'm glad its not just me : )

I'm still sitting here swooning.

One of the good ones. Of course, as he said he will be leaving the party at the next GE and so will any other half decent Tory MPs. They will literally have nothing left apart from the rampant scavengers.

siblingrevelryagain · 20/10/2022 15:07

He’s free to have find his backbone because he’s not standing again-he’s enabled the shit show (and voted in line with it)-no outrage at protection of sexual predators, proroguing parliament, tearing up of protest and human rights laws, shame-full treatment of asylum seekers...

His threshold is just slightly different than the others who are left

RainbowZebraWarrior · 20/10/2022 15:08

Andrew Bridgen was also interviewed this afternoon and came across as honest and eloquent.

I'd like to see them cross over to the other side, actually.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 20/10/2022 15:08

He's a Tory, so not for me thanks.

I did like what he had to say, but as a Tory, he has been complicit in the mess that our country is now in.

SaltyCrisp · 20/10/2022 15:12

You might want to check out his voting record, especially on human rights, before you fan girl too enthusiastically.

Xiaoxiong · 20/10/2022 15:14

Yep - wonder if he was one of the Tory MPs cheering the mini-budget on the Friday and condemning it on Monday when they saw the pound collapsing.

I think a lot of them are angry because they are being made to look like fools, not because they fundamentally disagree with any of Truss's policy proposals.

There's a first time for everything.

WannabeMrsWalker · 20/10/2022 15:15

I mean, Zelensky is still topping my crush poll ( Oh My God, that ' Without You' 'speech'! I had to fan myself!), but Walker is running a not bad second place.

I rated him already after he rightly kicked off about an older woman being manhandled off a peaceful protest during lockdown, and fought against unnecessary dictatorial policies afterwards. Sensible and gutsy bloke, shame he's leaving.

I'm quite happy for my crush to be based entirely on that 2 minute and 8 seconds video.

But thank your input.

He's brilliant.

I'm a Tory voter and have been a member most my adult life. I couldn't have put how I feel in better terms. Sick of power hungry, talentless people pushing personal agendas that are harming ordinary people AND the Conservative Party's future.

What a strange thread and an even stranger response to a perfectly valid post

I had to laugh at this. Andrew Bridgen is an absolute toad. He would say anything for 50p and a chance to be filmed. Grade A rent a gob wanker.

MotherofTerriers · 20/10/2022 15:19

I'd agree if it wasn't that his focus seemed to be the damage to the Tory party rather than to the country and the people struggling to pay mortgages and energy bills

BigBagOfPasta · 20/10/2022 15:21

Oh God, me too. He just sounds decent. I will be really cross if there's a story from the woodwork about him being unfaithful etc.

roarfeckingroarr · 20/10/2022 15:21

@MotherofTerriers I think he showed concern for both, but I don't think he's wrong for being concerned about the damage to a cause that has been his life's work, the party he believes in - even if that's not a party you support,

PerkingFaintly · 20/10/2022 15:21

Andrew Bridgen? Isn't he the guy who c2016 described Boris as likely to thrash around and break things, and therefore an ideal candidate for Prime Minister? So that Bridgens et al could get whatever they wanted through in the chaos?

Haven't seen Bridgen's interview today, but if he's upset that things are now, well, broken... then I'll be saving my sympathy for the rest of us.

We need it.

TinaYouFatLard · 20/10/2022 15:24

He was one of the only decent MPs during Covid madness to speak about about the potential harms of lockdown and in particular closing schools. Shame there’s not more like him.

Its a thread about being delighted to see a public example of dignified, well moderated and well expressed anger.

He's showered himself in glory compared to 'Tories are scum' Raynor, and ' I detest Tories' Sturgeon.

The world would be in a much better place if we could all conduct ourselves a bit more like Charles Walker did in that interview when we are feeling the rage.

And I agree with that entirely. It's the infantile, school-girl crushing and declarations of love that is strange.

That was for my own entertainment value. Its ok. We can find different things funny. In a better world we could accept we find different things funny without needing to resort to insulting each other's humour.

I've been waiting for a thread on this that I can agree with! Was a bit embarrassed to start my own Blush

I'm got my fingers in my ears to all this man's faults and I too am basing my crush solely on that interview, his floppy hair, and his vague resemblance to both Tim Roth and Alan B'stard. I'm scratching his name into my desk right now.

I can't tell you how pleased I am to find other women thought the same!
