i really do not know what to say to him

Well, if his phone is 'broken' you don't need to say anything. Just block him and learn a lesson.

AllTheOtherNamesWereTaken · 07/10/2022 05:11

I knew a girl with a Turkish boyfriend who she's met on holiday! The rest of us in the group were all so skeptical - he now lives here, they've been married for a few years and have a child!!

So give him a chance if you want to, it could all be genuine but be cautious. Don't buy thim the phone and it sounds wise to go with I friend to visit. If he has a problem with either of those things that's when you'll know he's not genuine. I really hope for you he is ☺️

BoxcarMilly · 07/10/2022 05:45

A friend of mine nearly got scammed like this.

He came to stay with her in UK for a week and while she was at work ran up a huge phone bill ringing another woman in Germany !

Shut this down now OP!

Noteverybodylives · 07/10/2022 05:59

Well done for seeing straight through him OP!

You get these sorts of men in every country who prey on the vulnerable and it’s usually very difficult to spot.

Shut it down asap so he doesn’t give you a sob story and worm his way in.

Goldencarp · 07/10/2022 06:13

I worked in Turkey for years as a rep. Lots of English girls fall for these Turkish men. There are possibly a few genuine ones but the majority are after money and a visa. Block him now and move on would be my advice.

EstellaRijnveld · 07/10/2022 06:16

It is a scam, don’t fall for it. These men don’t think much of British women, they think British women have a reputation for being ‘easy’.

Have some self respect and block his number, don’t explain anything because you don’t owe him one. Don’t give him a reason to talk you round. He’s probably already got a wife and kids hidden away somewhere waiting to come to the Uk.

Wetblanket78 · 07/10/2022 06:18

Is this a wind up.

Just to say not all Turkish men are like this. A friends daughter met a lovely Turkish man over there. She ended up going over there to live and got married in July. She's got a great life over there with him.

Turkish romance scam

oakleaffy · 07/10/2022 06:28

He wants money and a visa.
Just say NO.

plasticdragon · 07/10/2022 06:30

How old are you OP?

EasterIssland · 07/10/2022 06:37

There was a programme not that long time ago on the tv about this holiday scam.
take care op. Seems like he’s only after your money

Cancersurvivor · 07/10/2022 06:53

Please don’t be another victim of this scam, he wants to live in the U.K. and your his passage. He wants your money also and for you to give him a roof over his head. These men are parasites praying on nice people like yourself. Pleas Do not call him again.

SpringIntoChaos · 07/10/2022 07:23

This has got to be a wind up!

Surely nobody is really this stupid in 2022?? 🤦‍♀️

Shirley Valentine @Shirl2022 ?

Shirl2022 · 06/10/2022 12:40

i am confused he seem so nice as well
so i am defo wary about this i really do not know what to say to him

People always seem surprised when someone seems so nice, but isn’t. Fraudsters, charlatans and conmen would get absolutely nowhere if they went round being rude and cheeky to their targets.

Sally090807 · 07/10/2022 07:36

There is a website called Tunisian love rats, this is a very common thing to happen, they make you feel so special, give you a sob story about a sick family member or ask for gifts etc, will message constantly, I would block and move on if I were you.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 06/10/2022 12:59

Which is quite rare. Happens sometimes but not always.

Yes but did they start the relationship off by asking for a new mobile phone.

@SpringIntoChaos it seems some women are that stupid, there’s a thread on in Ainu where the ops druggie partner wants 50% of her business. She whacked u with him knowing he was dodgy, had a baby and now wants to know if signing 50% is unreasonable. You can’t argue with thick and stupid.

Did they ask for money within the first few weeks?

He was nice because he wanted money from you.

TwoMonthsOff · 07/10/2022 11:35

@Shirl2022
It seems you have taken all the good advice on board now, so don't be upset by some replies implying you are stupid

MickydeBargos · 05/12/2024 14:14

My wife of 33 years has ended up paying the ultimate price for doing this.
She's fallen for a barman at the hotel we frequently visit.
I realised there was something wrong in June and found he was trying to get her to meet him on his day off.
I intervened and she denied everything. We went back 3 months later and they were at it again, sexting all the time. I got proof and challenged her.
She said she was sorry but felt alone and she's done sent him money for his sister who has cancer (of course she has) and other gifts.
She won't believe he's scamming her but now I've moved out and started divorce proceedings.
She's lost everything but still sticks up for him.
I'm devastated.

Pinkbonbon · 05/12/2024 15:06

He's asking you for money. He's not nice.

He's guilt tripping you and love bombing you.
Of course there was an instant connection. Sharks fixate on their prey.

He's a romance skammer.

Sorry love. If you go to these places and enjoy flirtation with the locals, never take the 'romance' home with you. It's a recipe for trouble.
