Hi, I can’t believe I’m writing on here I feel so embarassed☹️Anyway, I had DS 18 months ago and I’m currently pregnant again (20 weeks). Recently I’ve noticed my vagina to be quite loose, I’m not enjoying sex and either is my DH. Is there anything I can do to help this? Before my first child I used to have a great vagina, I can’t help to feel upset about this and obviously don’t want us to have no sex life… is there anything I can do to help to tighten down there? Many thanks xxx

As you are currently pregnant the best thing you can do is your pelvic floor exercises. There are various devices you can use after you have given birth and recovered but as far as I know, they are not suitable for use in pregnancy. I have given birth 3 times and use a kegel8 machine, it’s good but obviously things are not the same as pre-pregnancy. I don’t expect it to be and I’m happy enough with things.

Missy1457 · 25/09/2022 21:13

Yes I’ve started to do pelvic floor excercises again, I did these after giving birth last time but never stuck at them which probably doesn’t help☹️.. I’ve seen the kegel8 machine , do you think it’s worth the money? Do you notice more of a difference compared to doing the Pelvic floor excercises? .. I’m not expecting it to go back to pre pregnancy but to have some what an enjoyable sex life again would be nice. My DH is very nice and says it doesn’t bother him but I know it does ..

I may also add I bought kegels, I started with the smallest weight.. as soon as I stood up the kegel fell straight back out, I’m so self conscious 😩

When you are pregnant hormones loosen your muscles, especially in the pelvic area. I agree with PP, do the pelvic floor exercises but I imagine you might not see much improvement until after pregnancy when those hormones aren't at work!

DivorcedAndDelighted · 25/09/2022 21:28

You can keep working on your pelvic floor exercises while pregnant; read up on tips and try to get some new approaches. Generally you are recommended not to use devices in pregnancy though. After pregnancy, I highly recommend the Perifit. It's a little Bluetooth thing that you insert like a tampon and use with an app. I've had an Elvie, which is similar, before but the Perifit is much better. You play games like driving a racecar and flying a bird over obstacles. It has various programmes depending on your starting condition.
I also tried something in the past which claimed to stimulate your internal muscles to basically do the kegels for you. That hurt me and really didn't help. But the Perifit has been ace!!
Good luck with your pregnancy!

It you have a tens machine, like a compex 300, you can get a vaginal probe which will help your muscles. The machines are about £250-300, and are thé same as the ones physios use, just fewer programmes.

loislovesstewie · 25/09/2022 21:45

You need to do pelvic floor exercises for the rest of your life basically. It's no good doing them for a while then stopping, after childbirth it really is a forever routine. Do a few when you are weeing, to see if you can stop the flow, if you can you are doing well. Then at regular intervals throughout the day.

Nettl · 25/09/2022 21:45

@Missy1457 Yes, it does make a difference. I had a slight prolapse where I could feel my back passage bulging into the vaginal wall and it has definitely improved this. I would say that it feels pretty ‘normal’ now.

Missy1457 · 25/09/2022 21:45

@DivorcedAndDelighted thanks for the response! How much was the perifit? Do you think it made a difference to the tightness downstairs ?

I was getting stress incontinence and the Kegel8 machine has sorted that out a treat. I also used the other programmes and things have definitely tightened up, I have a really, really strong grip now

Darhon · 26/09/2022 07:27

Kegel8 is great.

The Perifit was about £120 but you can usually get at least 10% off through offers or a referral code. It made a huge difference, was - ahem - commented on.... and it was very motivating working all through the challenges. I am thinking about posting my Perifit achievements on Strava to compete with my friends' boasts about their running 😁

Zippedydoo123 · 29/09/2022 14:24

No need to buy a gadget I do them twice a day 8 times each time. You can also use Yes vaginal moisturiser for down below.

TulipVictory · 29/09/2022 14:35

How loose is loose?!

Haffiana · 29/09/2022 22:26

Recently I’ve noticed my vagina to be quite loose, I’m not enjoying sex and either is my DH.

Because of your vagina? You and your DH are not enjoying sex because you have a loose vagina? Really now?

I do hope lots of people rush to tell you about their loose vaginas. That would be such fun, wouldn't it?

ancientgran · 29/09/2022 22:31

The Tenscare do the itouch sure, it is really good and you can get it for about £50.

bloodyunicorns · 29/09/2022 22:56

How loose would your vag have to be for you and h not to enjoy sex?? Really? 🙄

Mardyface · 29/09/2022 22:58

You used to have a great vagina?

Missy1457 · 30/09/2022 00:58

@Mardyface yes before having my first child and currently pregnant with second.
@bloodyunicorns @Haffiana im not sure how to explain it. I guess we both can’t really feel anything during sex because of my lose vagina🥴🥴.
@TulipVictory loose enough that when I went to do my pelvic floor excercises I inserted the kegel with the smallest weight, I stood up and the kegel fell out. So yeah pretty embarrassing 😣
its getting me quite down as I’m still young and don’t want to have no sex life, we’ll an enjoyable sex life. And I’m too completely and utterly embarrassed to talk to any of my friends about it.

Interested in this too. Thanks for posting OP!

Just wondering what the difference is between the Perifit and Kegel8 machines. Was a bit confused that the K8 promo blurb says it does the work for you.

Can I just clarify that with both you do have to squeeze and can't just lie back and think of England/watch Corrie or whatever?

CosmopolitanPlease · 30/09/2022 08:34

With the kegel8 you do just sit, lie or walk about and it does the work for you. I love mine. As well as tightening I find it gives stronger orgasms.

DivorcedAndDelighted · 30/09/2022 17:40

With the Perifit, you have to do the squeezing and lifting, but the device and phone app gives you feedback on how well you're doing it, and the games are really fun and lead you through a workout of 5 mins or so. I like this approach because now I know what pelvic floor exercises should feel like when done well, so when I do squeezes going about my daily life, I know what I'm aiming for.

Otherwise, my experience was the same as @CosmopolitanPlease in that, as my pelvic floor strengthened, orgasms became stronger.

frigginfroid · 06/10/2022 18:03

On the back of this thread, I went ahead and bought a Kegel8 Ultra20 which arrived yesterday. I'm quite impressed actually and have begun the Menopause programme.

I know it differs from person to person but what mAs do people tend to have it on. I've set it to 40 mA for a 30 minute session which is about as much as I can tolerate at the moment.

It also came with 4 pads if you don't fancy inserting the vaginal probe. Just wondering if they can be re-purposed as a diy CACI facial toner to help with my saggy jowls and frown lines 😂

I too am suspicious of the OP's post... something tells me this isn't actually a real problem from a real woman. 🙄

Mardyface · 29/09/2022 22:58

You used to have a great vagina?

Well didn’t we all.
Have you considered that your DHs penis is just too small instead?
