Would you let a new man buy you a house?

My sister is in a new relationship. He's a wealthy man, no kids. She has 2 DC and is living in a housing association property. They've been together about 8 months. She spends 99% of her time at his house, as do her DC.

He's asked her to move in with her, as an insurance he's going to buy her a house to rent out. If things don't work out she's got a property to move into, fully paid for, in her name.

She's very excited about the whole thing. I'm not sure what to make of it. Any thoughts?

As my old dad would say. You get nothing for free in this life. There will be a catch somewhere it may just be so well hidden you don’t see it till it’s to late.

I would love to think its above board, but is there a problem with the land, house?. Or has he got a bad habit he hopes to smooth over by giving a house.

Police Record??

Absolutely not. I wouldn’t accept such a gift from anyone under any circumstances. Financial independence is far too important to me and I am entirely capable of providing housing for myself and my family.

In your sister’s situation my answer would be not just no but hell no. Moving her children into this man’s house so soon is a dreadful decision and potentially a damaging one. But even if we ignore that glaring issue, allowing a man she barely knows to buy a house for her is quite unsettling. Has she no self-respect?

My aunts partner did this. She left him about 8 years later. She still has the house.
