My husband asked me to change my shorts to leggings because men were in the house working!!!!!

I was wearing shorts... we had men in the house doing work and my husband asked me if I was changing into leggings??
He said they would be 'looking at my hole'

What he said was crass, vulgar, and reeks of no class and lack of the most basic grasp of manners. Just in case all the replies breaking it to you gently didn’t penetrate. Which judging by your inane, inexplicable glee, they didn’t.

I have a feeling the plumber felt disdain for the both of you.

Put the leggings over your head, one leg for your head and the other leg for your husband. That way you’ll both look as dumb as you act.

Would you normally wear the shorts out and about? If not maybe he’s just thinking of you- for example if he knows you wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing them in public then why would you wear them In front of strangers at home. Maybe this was his thinking?

Fair enough, and I apologize. I have a visceral disgust towards husbands policing wives' bodies, but that's not at all directed at you. I'm deep into Under the Banner of Heaven and seething. Good luck!

Obviously he's an idiot, but what he suggested doesn't even make sense if his aim was to have your bottom more covered. If they were loose shorts then leggings would show the form of your bottom more, if they were fitted shorts then the only difference leggings would make would be to cover more of your legs, not your ermm hole.

My response would have been "I'll stay as I am, I am comfortable".

I think I'm getting too old for this place - all the extra letters; all the exclamation marks; and a thread a day about 'men' telling 'women' what to wear that forces them to run to MN to check if that's ok or not.

I don’t see the problem though but maybe that’s because if I had somewhat revealing clothes on, I’d always change when someone comes to my house. That goes for workmen or family members/friends etc. Everyone was raised differently

I feel a lot of people are being purposely obtuse. If you have random workmen coming into your house, you don’t know if they could be creeps or not. It’s not really about ‘so why’s he letting them into your house then.’ It’s more so about weighing up the risk.

There’s no hassle in changing clothes to something less revealing (ie from shorts with your legs out to trousers) when random people are in your house. I feel the comments would be more valid if it was DH’s own friends and he was suggesting the OP changes.

Anyway I guess the point is, is that OP’s DH asked her to change as opposed to her wanting to change herself🤷‍♀️
