My 85 year old nan has a boyfriend

My nan, who was widowed at 57, and is now 85 has a boyfriend. They’ve been friends for a year and she told me this morning they are in love! I said are you partners? She replied to not call them that they aren’t that old 😁and that he is her boyfriend. She’s like a teenager and it made me smile. Who says getting old has to be miserable!

Good for Nan

Staynow · 08/05/2022 12:01

How wonderful!

Honaloulou · 08/05/2022 12:01

amazing! My DGF got remarried at 87, and he was very happy for a final few years.

girlmom21 · 08/05/2022 12:02

Ah that's lovely! Go nan! I hope they have a very happy life together 🥰

Afterfire · 08/05/2022 12:02

Love this ❤️

LoudingVoice · 08/05/2022 12:03

That’s really made me smile, good for your nan and her boyfriend - hope they’re very happy together 😊

My grandfather got married for the 2nd time at 85!
its such a lottery, some people are still very active and alert and others are frail and doddery at this age

Giveitall · 08/05/2022 12:05

Same thing with my mum’s s neighbour. She was a spinster, he a widower. Both in their eighties.
They had a good few sweet years together. It was so lovely to see them out & about before she passed away.
It frightened the life out of his daughters who were worried about potential marriage, living together, wills! God forbid that Golden Oldies shouldn’t have loving companions.

Justcallmeanatm · 08/05/2022 12:07

Oh good for your nan she sounds great xx

choosername1234 · 08/05/2022 12:07

Do you need to have a chat with her about contraception Smile

OldTinHat · 08/05/2022 12:09

How bloody awesome! This is the happiest thing I've heard in ages! I'm delighted for them both. Just wonderful.

Supersee · 08/05/2022 12:10

Aww this is fab! And has cheered me right up being single at 40. Lovely post for a Sunday.

MintyCedricRidesAgain · 08/05/2022 12:12

😁 good on her!

Where did she find him?

My mum is nearly 83 and has been perusing the elderly dating sites for a while but without success.

Thing is, she wants a toy boy as doesn't want to go through watching another partner decline like my late dad ☹.

It would be lovely if she did meet someone but the process of her doing so terrifies me tbh.

Itsbackagain · 08/05/2022 12:14

That's fabulous I wish my mum would meet someone.

Pollywoddles · 08/05/2022 12:14

Yes Nan! 🙂

Yissie · 08/05/2022 12:16

Isn’t it lovely! She felt bad at first as they only knew each other as she knew his wife. His wife that died 25 years ago! I said I think she’s waited long enough to get away with it 😁

I have a relative who married after being widowed, in her late eighties. She's now 92 and her husband is early 70s.

ohyesiknowwhatyoumean · 08/05/2022 12:49

go Nan! My later MIL had a toy boy in her 80's, they used to go away for lovely long weekends in country hotels 😉
