Depends on the personalities I’d assume… I had high hopes for my SIL but she had no desire to have a relationship with me beyond cordial/family visits

Skelligsfeathers · 27/03/2022 21:43

My brother's wife is fab and i consider her a friend. I have no relationship AT ALL with dh's sister. I suspect she really dislikes me and we see her once a year at most. I've long given up trying.

HellToTheNope · 27/03/2022 21:44

My husband has two sisters, no brothers. The eldest is a mess, ruins every gathering by drinking too much, and his other sister, the middle child, is just absolutely fucking vile. She's just mean and I won't have a thing to do with her.

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 27/03/2022 21:44

First one hated me. I had a dc before her..
Second one we were besties before I married her db.. When me and dh split she went nc with me.

Turningpurple · 27/03/2022 21:46

Avoided exhs sister
Dont mix with dbros wife after she said people who intended to be working mums should be made infertile

Dps half Sister is my best friend. I was friends with her before I met dp. She introduced us. Me and her are closer than her and dp are.

HeArInGhandsgirl11 · 27/03/2022 21:47

Mine just does not like me.. it's never been said to my face but she isn't great at hiding it. Her DH is my DH brother and they are very close siblings so I have to be around her often. I know you can't be everyone's cup of tea but I find it so irritating. I'd rather know why so at least I can understand it

Xyzzzzz · 27/03/2022 21:49

Avoid we’re just different people. She’s not someone I’d be friends with.

Do you want to know though?

What if she says she just finds you irritating or voice annoying or you just arenr someone she would choose to be with or something you can't resolve. It's just going to make it more awkward.

HeArInGhandsgirl11 · 27/03/2022 21:54

@Turningpurple I do t think it could be more awkward.. The not knowing drives me mad. I generally get along with everyone I meet, I'm very laid back.

Hmmnow considering if I have one of those irritating voices 😅

I prefer my SIL to my own sister!

Sideorderofchips · 27/03/2022 21:57

Mine were and still are my best friends and sisters.

My husbands sister is awesome! Love her 😊

murasaki · 27/03/2022 22:03

I like mine, we live at different ends of the country, and she is always super busy so we only se her when we go up to the inlaws, but we text a fair bit and laugh about dp amongst other stuff. She's a top lass.

murasaki · 27/03/2022 22:05

She's also a top present buyer. I feel sorry for her having had to live with dp when he was younger and frankly a pain, and I get him now he is almost civilised. She tells me all sorts of tales he doesn't think that I know about .

I prefer my brother's wife to my brother, but that's not saying much - I have very little to do with either of them. But she's easier to chat to than he is, he just answers questions then stops, she can at least do small talk.

murasaki · 27/03/2022 22:11

He once spent a day in the park collecting bees in a bag to release them in her bedroom. He has since admitted this. I'm surprised she didn't kill him. She is a patient soul, and v funny. I like her a lot.

I only really get small talk from DH brother, until he is with us without SIL then he is completely different, laughs and jokes with me. It's very bizarre

He was a diligent if difficult teen by all accounts. That took effort, if woefully misplaced.....

DowntonCrabby · 27/03/2022 22:17

I love my DH Sis as I love my own Sisters, have more in common with her and have a really easy relationship with her.

Powaqa · 27/03/2022 22:18

Avoid. I've been married to Dh for 14 years. I have never met one of his 2 brothers or his wife.
We haven't spoken to his other brother or his wife since the day we married. Cant stand SIL or BIL
