Whatsapp Deleted Messages - How Can I View Them?

ZekeZeke · 21/02/2022 11:46

BIL has been messaging OW.
Sister devestated.
He has deleted all the messages between them and told her that it was just an emotional affair.
D Sis needs to see the deleted messages for her own peace of mind (even though she will never have peace of mind).
Is there a way?
He deleted the messages and he deleted whatsapp app.
She reinstalled whatsapp but no messages are there

They'll still be on OW phone unless she's deleted them too.

ZekeZeke · 21/02/2022 11:49

we don't have access to OW phone

No way you can access them

chicagocreature · 21/02/2022 11:51

If it's recent, has there been an backup? (If it's an iPhone?)

isthismylifenow · 21/02/2022 11:56

If there were no messages there when she re-installed, then there is no way to retrieve them unfortunately. I assume she used the option to restore backed up messages?

Did she reinstall to the same phone?

Are they definitely deleted or have they been archived? Archived you can retrieve

Nap1983 · 21/02/2022 12:02

With WhatsApp unless backed up, which most people wouldn’t have on there is no way to get back deleted messages.

chicagocreature · 21/02/2022 12:05

If it was an iPhone and the iPhone was backed up before he deleted the WA messages, you could retrieve the WA messages from the iPhone backup. But it would be a short window of opportunity before the next backup over-writes it.

ElleGB · 21/02/2022 12:14

You can go onto iPhone recent back ups, through the Apple ID sign in in settings and restore to an earlier date - eg Friday last week.

If that doesn’t work they’ve probably gone for good.

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 21/02/2022 12:21

What difference will it make? If it was "only" an emotional affair, is she considering staying with him?

I am asking a question not an opinion thanks

Phone is an android so I'm not sure if that makes any difference?

Was it backed up to a Googl account?
tulips27 · 21/02/2022 13:03

I think the other participant in the conversation can send what they have to you if you haven't backed up and if they haven't deleted things on their end. I looked into this when I accidentally deleted all the new baby messages my friend had sent me, but never actually tried it out.

trevthecat · 21/02/2022 13:11

I'm pretty sure once deleted, that's it with WhatsApp.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 21/02/2022 16:38

You can’t
Once deleted it’s gone
Sorry

glasgowlass · 21/02/2022 16:59

Unless chats are backed up, they're gone. Sorry, thinking of your sister.

givemeallthecheese · 21/02/2022 17:03

Yes the only chance is with a back up

Settings > chat > chat back up
See if it's on auto back up. If not, no chance

givemeallthecheese · 21/02/2022 17:04

Oh and if it's backed up since he deleted them then yea, they've gone into the ether forever

Zilla1 · 21/02/2022 17:11

He must have felt so guilty about the EA that he told the truth unprompted about the ES then deleted the evidence of his solely-EA which had no physical contact. None of the messages would have shown any physical relationship, presumably. Probably. Poor DSis.

My thoughts exactly. Why delete if you have nothing to hide. I'm heartbroken for her. She cannot get over it until she sees what exactly was said. I doubt she would get over if if she did!

I can't help with messages but if you look in the files app you might see WA GIFs and pictures. Not sure if these are all deleted if the app goes, worth a try?

Manxiety · 21/02/2022 22:25

Read this. It's doable.

Thisisyourvaginatalking · 21/02/2022 22:52

I would be very sceptical that it was only emotional.
