Have I been deleted?

Last night I realised the profile photo for both my cousin and his wife was missing from whatsapp. Thought it was a bit odd, as nothings happened and we're pretty close.

Having spoken to my dad, my cousin's profile photo is still showing up for him so it appears something odd is going on.

Have I been deleted? I've sent them a message and waiting to hear back but at this stage Im so fed up of people in general. I was regularly doing a 200 mile round commute to London to see them (as well as other friends) and this combined with a few other things has made me feel I should drastically cut down the effort I'm willing to give other people.

Please can you share any experiences you have had with something like this and with letting go of one sided relationships

If the profile picture has gone & you can't see their last online time then sounds as if you've been blocked especially since your Dad can see them

How is the message youve sent looking. If its just got one tick then you're definitely blocked

If the message you sent only has one grey tick then yes you've been blocked it would seem.

Sometimes my picture dissapears from whatsapp and people think I've blocked them. No idea why it does it so it could that!

messages have been delivered and called twice today and no reply. surprised this would happen as was close to these people and invested a lot. disappointed at the fickleness of it

If the messages show as delivered you haven’t been blocked.

Not blocked but possibly deleted from contacts.

In WhatsApp you can set who sees your profile pic... contacts, everyone, no one.

Sounds like they’ve deleted you as a contact. It’s rude and annoying but I would just go low contact. One sided relationships are not worth the time or effort

There is a setting in the privacy section that allows you to show your photo to only those numbers that you have saved in your contacts, so they could have never saved your number as a contact, and just changed the settings, I have a few of the school groups/mums in this category,
If your messages have been delivered then you aren't blocked, but it is strange and hopefully its just a setting issue

Maybe they have new phones or had an update? I lost quite some contacts a few years ago during an update.

I feel like I've invested countless hours travelling to visit them and hundreds of pounds on gifts for them and their daughter, it does feel like a slap in the face but what can you do

When did you last send a message? Sound like you’ve been blocked as even if they deleted your contact it would still show their profile picture. See if you can send a message and if it goes through.

Hi OP, do you have your picture set to private and your last on line deactivated. If so whatsapp won't let you see others data so maybe check your settings.

If you were blocked the message wouldn't go to the double tick. It would stay on one tick for sent

I wouldn't be too hasty - I added a second sim to my phone & doing this somehow deleted lots of my contacts, although I could still see their WhatsApp messages it only showed their number etc not their names as I'd saved them.
Could be something as simple as this, if your messages show 2 ticks theyve gone through.
Wait & see do they reply.
Otherwise would they have any reason to be playing silly games like this?

I was going to say the same as tabletipper. Theres a lot of wattsapp scams going around and people are being encouraged to change their profile pics to contacts only. I have friends on wattsapp that arent saved in my phone. No big deal. If you can take some deep breaths and step away from your phone for a bit. You might be getting yourself wound up for no reason and life is stressful enough. Wait to see what they say x

My phone deletes contacts it's self. Often I'll get calls or texts from people and it's their number rather than name or I'll look for them in my inbox and it's gone from their name to a number so takes me a minute to find them. No idea why it happens but is especially common on what's app.

Yes. When I got a new phone a few months ago only about a tenth of my contacts transferred. I still haven't updated most of them. Hopefully they are not huffing and puffing that I have done them a tremendous insult.

If you're close with them & Care about the relationship which it sounds like you do. Pick up the phone and speak to them

Some contacts don’t transfer over, if I know the number by heart I don’t bother adding it.

If the message is delivered then you are not blocked

Swipe left for the next trending thread
