New name for "absent" fathers

WorkHardPlayHard1 · 23/01/2022 21:57

I'm sick to the back teeth of how we allow "absent fathers" to be normalised in society. "It happens all the time" etc👦🏻
How about we have a new name for any man that leaves the mother of their child (for another woman or pastures new) and doesn't provide any more care, contact or monetary support to pay for food, clothing, warmth.🍳
Meanwhile the single Mum has the burden to do all the caring, cooking, clothing, cleaning, support on her own. Plus single mums are looked down by society yet they are angels. 😇
There's also the men who go around fathering multiple children to many women then move on to the next woman til she gets pregnant. There's not much lower than that imo? To abandon an innocent child. If enough of us use it. It can become a new (slang) word in the dictionary.

Shall we call them cockroaches?

I call mine a dead beat dad. Cockroaches are too strong in my opinion.

beesfeet · 23/01/2022 22:17

My dcs dad is in their lives but only because his mum and dad make sure he is. He deals with nothing and takes them to McDonald's/greggs/kfc every other weekend when he has them as he can't be bothered to even cook for them. Obviously the dcs think he is the best thing ever as he doesn't do any of the hard parenting stuff and they get to eat as much crap as they like while I'm the one that stuff veg in their mouths (not literally obvs)

I call him a 'fun uncle' Hmm

beesfeet · 23/01/2022 22:21

Any word to describe a man who is no part of their childs/rens life should not have the word father/dad/parent in it because that's not what they are.

I'd go with 'waste of fucking space'

RedCandyApple · 23/01/2022 22:51

I’ve been thinking of a new name to call my ex, he doesn’t see our kids at all so saying “your dad/father” always seems a bit off as he’s never been any sort of father to them!

RogerDodger · 23/01/2022 22:54

Perpetrator of child negligence.

stinkycheeseman · 23/01/2022 22:55

What about 'that cunt'??

WorkHardPlayHard1 · 23/01/2022 22:57

@stinkycheeseman

Isn't that disrespecting to women though? 🧐

Cunts are warm and inviting places where miracles happen

(Sadly not my words, I read it on MN) so no. Dead beat dad is preferable as agree with pp that cockroachs are too strong

oldstudentmum · 24/01/2022 12:56

Sperm donor

alwaysontheloo · 24/01/2022 13:01

Just waiting for the inevitable "Not all dads blah blah blah, some women..." bullshit that usually trots up on here. Hmm

Should make it illegal like America not to financially or otherwise contribute towards your children's lives.
Too many people excuse the dead beats and normalise it.

AnyFucker · 24/01/2022 13:09

Fucking loser covers it

Onthefloor2 · 24/01/2022 13:11

cheninblanc · 24/01/2022 14:12

I called mine the babysitter, turned up two Saturdays a month, literally did a bit of supervising but no actual parenting and dropped them off after tea on a Sunday. He's now walked away totally so I have no names for him, he doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned

Catcrazy83 · 24/01/2022 14:12

Numnutts is my word of choice.

purpleboy · 24/01/2022 14:29

My grown up daughter calls her absent father 'Jim the wanker' she won't use the word Dad or Father. My friend calls her absent ex Darth (as in Darth Vader)

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 24/01/2022 16:05

My "father" and my DS's "father" are both called the sperm donors.
