New name for "absent" fathers

I'm sick to the back teeth of how we allow "absent fathers" to be normalised in society. "It happens all the time" etc👦🏻
How about we have a new name for any man that leaves the mother of their child (for another woman or pastures new) and doesn't provide any more care, contact or monetary support to pay for food, clothing, warmth.🍳
Meanwhile the single Mum has the burden to do all the caring, cooking, clothing, cleaning, support on her own. Plus single mums are looked down by society yet they are angels. 😇
There's also the men who go around fathering multiple children to many women then move on to the next woman til she gets pregnant. There's not much lower than that imo? To abandon an innocent child. If enough of us use it. It can become a new (slang) word in the dictionary.

Shall we call them cockroaches?

Sperm Donor - mine put in about as much effort as one…

@beesfeet

My dcs dad is in their lives but only because his mum and dad make sure he is. He deals with nothing and takes them to McDonald's/greggs/kfc every other weekend when he has them as he can't be bothered to even cook for them. Obviously the dcs think he is the best thing ever as he doesn't do any of the hard parenting stuff and they get to eat as much crap as they like while I'm the one that stuff veg in their mouths (not literally obvs)

I call him a 'fun uncle' Hmm

I call my eldest's Dad his fun uncle Grin as that is exactly the role he has taken on! Hmm
lunar1 · 24/01/2022 16:30

I used to call my 'dad' an asshole but they have a purpose so it doesn't seem fair.

Turd is the same, excreted waste is an important and vital function for all living beings, he doesn't serve a function 🤷🏻‍♀️

SpikeySmooth · 24/01/2022 17:51

Feckless fucker ?

MarshmallowSwede · 24/01/2022 18:06

A deadbeat dad

RosieLemonadeAndSugar · 24/01/2022 18:15

My work friend calls her sons dad simply 'dickhead' ..come to think of it, I don't know his actual name. He's always referred to as 'Dickhead' Grin

coldfeetmama · 25/01/2022 08:25

Please don't insult cockroaches
Living creature who didn't choose to be so yucky

I call mine Mr who are you again ?

UserBot999 · 25/01/2022 08:28

Uncle + name is good on a personal level. My dc call their father by his name. He hates that.

I hated having 100% of the responsibility and 0% of the freedom though so got the smoother end of the situation

Shirking cads
To much focus is put on maintenance so these freedom thieves feel like heroes is they give 11% of their net income but rob you of 99% of your "share" of the freedom.

You are right op. There are not enough words for forcing responsibility on to somebody and stealing their half of the freedom so its hard to come up with a snappy derogatory label that would catch on.

I still remember having lunch with an ex-bf's family. I nearly choked on my food when his 90 something year old grandma asked his cousin something about the "sperm donor". Turned out everyone called her daughter's father that. They were only 20 and 24 when she got pregnant and he did a runner. He went on to quickly have a couple of more children that he isn't involved with.

Lemonweightloss · 25/01/2022 09:05

@RosieLemonadeAndSugar, my friend calls hers Richard Cranium as she doesn't like to swear. Makes me laugh.

LunaAndHerMoonDragons · 25/01/2022 09:21

I like sperm donor because that is a fairly accurate description of their role, but then actually sperm donors help people to conceive and are doing something good. I like the sperm reference but feel it needs another word to follow it. Some random, not very promising thoughts....

Sperm giver
Sperm deadbeat
Sperm provider
Sperm denier

@alwaysontheloo

Just waiting for the inevitable "Not all dads blah blah blah, some women..." bullshit that usually trots up on here. Hmm

Should make it illegal like America not to financially or otherwise contribute towards your children's lives.
Too many people excuse the dead beats and normalise it.

Is that a fact? Well we used to be about 10 years behind the US in trends so looking forward to that happening here. And back pay. All other debts have to be paid in full under the legal system or you're declared bankrupt.

Child bankrupt?

I'm not looking for an emotionally charged name (1000% understand why) but one that can be used in the newspapers, in a slightly derogatory way, like "single mothers" were in the 80s.

;))
