Tell me the good, the bad and the ugly...or the nothing at all, as in my case. Cheer me up as I've had a terrible year. My boyfriend got me...zilch, not even a card...unless you count a text message wishing me Happy Christmas. I am not materialistic and keep Christmas celebrations low-key, but a gesture would have been nice and he isn't struggling financially. He is walking the plank very soon, as I have had a very hard year filled with the sort of horror that could fill a decade of Eastenders episodes. I only have room for an independent thinker who makes an effort on ship Scooby. I'm not upset about it, just resolved to make changes. At least my kids, and family friend's were kind and thoughtful today. I hope you are all having a nice day!

Bottle of port and a facebook portal for tv which will be great for facetiming dd1 at uni.
He got a bottle of southern comfort, giant toblerone(get him one every year) and a couple of books I knew he would like

OP, I’m sorry you have had a bad year - you sound resolved to make positive changes and I hope they help.
From my husband I received a book, some photo-frames for our newly decorated hallway, and a kneeling pad for gardening. Very content with it all; he also helped children make me framed collages and wrap them.

I got nothing at all. This is my husband of 8 years but we have been together total of 16 years with 2 children. We always buy for each other so it was not mutually agreed. And he knew I was buying him this year as he picked the gift himself for me to buy him. He earns good money but I have lost my job, I didn't want to use his/joint money for his gift so had to get it on credit card. It is not about the money spent and I am not materialistic but its about feeling appreciated and respected. He has not contributed to the organisation of Christmas at all so I think the least he could do is make the effort to buy me a gift. I am absolutely furious and have told him so. I've had boyfriends in the past who have been pricks about this but never expected to be treated this way by the father of my children who is waited on hand and foot by me.

I’m sorry - you’re worth much more. Time to look at other aspects of your relationship maybe? Stop waiting on him hand and foot and look at money / control issues. 😢

We do Amazon wish lists as he will admit he has no imagination. We then set a budget and we buy to that budget off each other’s wish lists. Still technically a surprise but at least we know we are getting what we want
