Tell me the good, the bad and the ugly...or the nothing at all, as in my case. Cheer me up as I've had a terrible year. My boyfriend got me...zilch, not even a card...unless you count a text message wishing me Happy Christmas. I am not materialistic and keep Christmas celebrations low-key, but a gesture would have been nice and he isn't struggling financially. He is walking the plank very soon, as I have had a very hard year filled with the sort of horror that could fill a decade of Eastenders episodes. I only have room for an independent thinker who makes an effort on ship Scooby. I'm not upset about it, just resolved to make changes. At least my kids, and family friend's were kind and thoughtful today. I hope you are all having a nice day!

Gorgeous shearling Balenciaga bag from Dh and lilysilk bedding from adult DC's - lucky!

hibeat · 25/12/2021 22:54

New glasses. Music stand. Practical stuff.

Doesntfeellikexmas · 25/12/2021 23:07

@HaggisBurger thank you. He isn't perfect. But the way he has supported us all, during this has made me realise how lucky I am.

I am not sure I would still be standing without him.

SarahJessicaParker1 · 25/12/2021 23:08

Sweets, chocolates and a bottle of Baileys!

We don't really do big presents. We tend to buy our own stuff as and when we need it and have the money.

AliasGrape · 25/12/2021 23:09

New boots - I saw and ordered them myself as they were on half price sale and then thought actually these would have made a good present so mentioned it to him.and he said he'd pay for them (we buy presents out of our own accounts rather than the joint even though it amounts to the same thing really I suppose)

He also got me some surprises - chocolates, Bob Mortimer's book and a lovely silver necklace with a robin charm which has a particular significance this year and was just so thoughtful it made me cry.

I got him slippers, a jumper, a screwdriver set, keyring with a special picture of him and DD and a bottle of his favourite booze.

Eleganz · 25/12/2021 23:17

I got a new tablet and accessories as mine was on the way out. I got him a set of kitchen knives he has had his eye on for a while as well as some other little bits.

I then enjoyed spending some time with the kids while he cooked Christmas dinner using his new knives.

Lorw · 25/12/2021 23:27

Ugg slippers, a new dressing gown, a replacement bracelet for a one that I broke and a lush bottle of perfume. DH did good this year 😁

RamblingOldWoman · 25/12/2021 23:27

Mine got me Victorias Secret Bombshell perfume and Brazilian knickers which made my day as I’ve just turned 50 and put on quite a bit of weight since starting HRT! He also got me two lots of really nice gym leggings and tops, socks and a posh water bottle obviously hinting at me getting back there as I haven’t been going that much recently Grin and I need to. And a hat, gloves and loads of skin, hair and bath stuff in my pillowcase stocking. I’m going to New York for 5 nights with adult DD in early January so that’s also my present albeit paid out of joint finances.

I got him a leather jacket, Timberland shoes and some Burts Bees stuff. We’ve always bought each other a present no matter how small depending on our finances over the years.

I’m so sorry @bloodywhitecat*. I hope you both had a good day and wish you strength for the days to come Flowers.

HerRoyalNotness · 25/12/2021 23:36

A Fitbit. I don’t want an effing Fitbit but DD ripped it out of the box and charged it. I haven’t used one in 2yrs. My old one, he broke his strap so stole my strap then couldn’t get it off his again. He wants a fit bit, I do not. I asked him why he didn’t just buy himself a fit bit! The other gift, a granny gift that cost way too much and is just clutter that will not be used, I’ve said he needs to return it. So I got a Fitbit, that I don’t want.

Thank you @RedRobyn2021 love your username !

Babyghirl · 26/12/2021 00:49

I got a Dyson hair dryer, new trainers, two superdry hoodies and a superdry coat, new pj's and slippers, perfume, a bracelet I have had 2 of them but keep breaking its of esty for fertility cause I have had 4 miscarriages and 1 cp and the stones are meant to balance your hormones so he got me a new one, but my main gift was 2 tickets to go see garath Brooks in croke Park Dublin in September.

So sorry you got nothing op a token gift even would of been nice. 💚

BackBackBack · 26/12/2021 09:25

Nothing by agreement as we don't do presents (both fussy and difficult to buy for!). Our joint "present" is our latest foster animal (we do emergency fostering for a couple of animal rescues). The house has been chaotic but lovely.

MenopauseSucks · 26/12/2021 10:08

I had my usual gifts under the tree - a specific calendar, a book token & mini-panettone, which I have just eaten for breakfast...
The cat got some treat cat food.

My main present from my partner was a watch that I chose a few months ago.

My watch died & couldn't be fixed.
It was in fact my mother's watch that she had been given back in the 1970s by my grandmother.
I'd been given the same watch in the 1980s by my grandmother but my watch died about 5 years ago & was also unfixable.
When Mum went into a dementia care home in 2017, I started to wear hers.
So huuuuge sentimental value to me & my wrist felt bare without it.

The manufacturer still did the same make & model but was £200...

I did find it online for £115 & my partner offered to buy it as an early Xmas pressie & my main gift. Ok, it was my choice & Id done the research but he bought it for me straight away.
I've worn it all the time since, only removing for washing me & washing up!
If you saw the watch, you probably wouldn't think much of it. It's a practical watch not anything pretty or glamorous - but I love it.

As he wanted new trainers but didn't know where from, I gave him £100 & the cat another £20. He got his usual calendar & I got him a special T-shirt regarding motorsport.
Well reader, getting the T-shirt here from Italy was incredibly stressful! I ordered it at the start of November & paid £20 post, packing & customs.
It dawdled its way across Europe, got stuck at Folkestone for an eternity & when it finally arrived here on 21st December, I had to pay an extra £10 in customs.
The shirt cost £35 - getting it here cost £30 & took over 6 weeks...
Brexit, the gift that keeps giving.

ElsieMc · 26/12/2021 10:30

I am smug this year because I got my dh an autographed framed pic of his hero. It is because he can remember the exact time and date he saw this happen (as in the photo!). Everyone says it is too expensive in this shop, but it really isn't. It cost the same as two bottles of aftershave. A shop that sells real one offs.

I got sheepskin slippers, pjyamas, clarins bath stuff and for some reason an overpriced cushion. Think I mentioned it to dd when out together as ridiculously overpriced and I would never buy it!

QueenoftheNimbleFlyingCat · 26/12/2021 10:34

Well I got something this year (chosen and purchased by me and he gave me the money) so that beats last year when he forgot to get me anything despite him saying we would do presents.

80sMum · 26/12/2021 10:37

I got him exactly the same thing as he got for me - which was absolutely nothing at all! It's what we both wanted. No hassle, no unnecessary expenditure, no expectations, no disappointments. Smile

MsJuniper · 26/12/2021 11:59

DH got me perfume and a necklace with the birthstones of our children on. It was very thoughtful! He actually listened to what I had mentioned earlier in the year.

I did really badly in return - very unimaginative gifts of a shirt and tie, books and wash set. Need to be more organised next year!

AryaStarkWolf · 26/12/2021 13:48

A ring, a pair of earrings and a cardigan

Mommabear20 · 26/12/2021 14:06

A blanket with the pattern of my favourite Disneyland attraction on 🥰
And a set of lovely pens

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 26/12/2021 14:08

Some DVDs he wanted - two he asked for and an extra 'season' of one of them, as a surpise.

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 26/12/2021 14:09

Oops just realised it was from not to! He got me two books and a scarf.

MatchsticksForMyEyesReturns · 26/12/2021 14:12

A book subscription for London Bookman so I get a book sent every month, based on a questionnaire I did on my tastes; an annual pass to a wildlife park; 2 jumpers and chocolates.

Anybridget7 · 26/12/2021 14:20

Peloton bike (I requested it...)
