Tell me the good, the bad and the ugly...or the nothing at all, as in my case. Cheer me up as I've had a terrible year. My boyfriend got me...zilch, not even a card...unless you count a text message wishing me Happy Christmas. I am not materialistic and keep Christmas celebrations low-key, but a gesture would have been nice and he isn't struggling financially. He is walking the plank very soon, as I have had a very hard year filled with the sort of horror that could fill a decade of Eastenders episodes. I only have room for an independent thinker who makes an effort on ship Scooby. I'm not upset about it, just resolved to make changes. At least my kids, and family friend's were kind and thoughtful today. I hope you are all having a nice day!

I got ugg boots which I had been asking for for a while I'm so glad I got them because they aren't something my husband loves but I wanted for the school run when it's cold in the morning and some perfume

My husband got some lounge trousers, t shirts and a pair of trainers.

We used to get each other heaps more but the last few years have been very grounding. I'm pregnant with our third baby and we both have Covid. I've also got a kidney infection. The fact we are together and I got out of hospital just in time for Christmas was the best gift this year

Merry Christmas all of you xx

Absolut Raspberry vodka that I can't wait to have!
Lots of til

bloodywhitecat · 25/12/2021 13:38

I got him slippers and a card, he got me nothing but not because he wanted to. It's because he already had terminal cancer then had a massive stroke 5 weeks ago, he is now home in a hospital bed for his last Christmas and my heart aches so much.

ImInStealthMode · 25/12/2021 13:40

@bloodywhitecat I'm so sorry Thanks xx

Livpool · 25/12/2021 13:40

Start again!

Absolut Raspberry vodka that I can't wait to have!
Lots of toiletries that I love
Book
Vodka glass (sensing a theme!)

Fucking bath bombs. Not just one which would be nice but 3 different loads and a tub of bubble bath. Beginning to think I smell.
Got No.7 face cream for my birthday last month too.
No imagination.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 25/12/2021 13:42

I got an icecream maker. Not one of those 'stick it in the freezer' before hand types. A proper, actually freeezes it, icecream maker. Way more expensive than we usually expend but I'm absolutely over the moon about it. Homemade mint choc chip icecream here I come ...

Absolutely nothing and this is what we do, we have so much crap already in the house. I don't wear perfume or jewellery that often, if we want something during the year we get it.
DD has obviously had some presents but it has been such a chilled day so far and perfect.

Weeteeny · 25/12/2021 14:01

Perfume, a nice bottle of gin, a bracelet charm, chocolates, a book and a stocking filled with wee bits and bobs . He is in the kitchen now dealing with the turkey. He is a good 'un.

RedToothBrush · 25/12/2021 14:02

Technically absolutely nothing. I did all the Christmas shopping. However we had agree not to get presents simply for the sake of it and instead I bought him a couple of things he asked for and bought myself a couple of things I wanted.

That works out well for us. We both get what we would like without the stress or buying too much.

Would do it again. We are both happy.

I wish you both a wonderful Christmas with each other. I hope you have a good day despite of everything. Xxx

Moonstone pendant and silver bracelet. I chose both, DH had some input but after 30 yrs I have realised that he is not a good present giver. Not everyone is.
He did buy me a lovely gold bracelet in the early years, I think he just got lucky with that one😂

Hazel444 · 25/12/2021 14:12

From DH I got a necklace, a tanzanite eternity ring, 3 books, a cardigan, sheepskin slippers and a dress. Super happy with all of his choices, and from the DC another necklace which I love. DH is a last minute Christmas Eve shopper but he usually comes up with great gifts :)

QueenofDestruction · 25/12/2021 14:13

A 12 Day christmas calendar of sterling silver studs
An alexa show
Bottle of watermelon vodka
New slippers
Angel perfume set

GTAlogic · 25/12/2021 14:14

Posh, fresh chocolates from a small start-up local business. They're delicious!

SpindlesHill · 25/12/2021 14:15

Some 'free from' sweets Smile and a book of ancient Latin translations. Who doesn't love a bit of Pliny the Younger?

QueenofDestruction · 25/12/2021 14:15

I See poster above got the Raspberry one.

winnieanddaisy · 25/12/2021 14:15

@bloodywhitecat sends hugs 💐

RhubarbFairy · 25/12/2021 14:17

A new Sara Miller watch (this is my third, I love them and alternate them), 4 pairs of PJ's from Boux Avenue and a box of blood orange tea that he had shipped from Austria. Very thoughtful as its my favourite and I'd planned to stock up on holiday over Christmas but we had to cancel three weeks ago (should be there right now).

What did you get from your boyfriend/ partner/ husband/ wife for Christmas?
RhubarbFairy · 25/12/2021 14:18

Sorry to hear about the crappy boyfriend though. Give yourself the present of freedom from him and give him the boot today.

Pegasussnail · 25/12/2021 14:19

I got a beautiful bracelet with a charm that means something to our family and a bottle of Chanel perfume. No card though.

Flibbertyjibberty · 25/12/2021 14:20

Salt and pepper grinders. Bought with my own bank card.

stairgates · 25/12/2021 14:20

A new dustpan and brush

AgentProvocateur · 25/12/2021 14:20

I don’t want to be smug, so I won’t tell you what DH got me, but we’ve been married for 32 years and he nails
It every year.

Inextremis · 25/12/2021 14:21

Exactly what I wanted - a candle-making kit and an Oodie :) I am so proud of DH - he used to be hopeless at presents, but he's great now - just took 20+ years of training :) Merry Christmas all!
