Hot desperate housewives gardener neighbour

Hello all Smile

I have a rather lovely neighbour who lives around the corner from me, literally we are about 6 houses apart,

Both of us are in our 40's, and I 'think' he is single, he is gorgeous and from the limited interaction I've had with him he seems like a nice guy. I've noticed he looks at my houses when I've caught him driving by.

I was thinking of trying tinder to see if he is on there by limiting the search area to 5 miles (can I even do that 😂)

Otherwise I don't know how to approach him?! I don't want to knock on the door randomly, I'd be mortified 😂 he is a gardener of some sort, so I could pop a note on his van?!

I have a 6 year old, he has seen me with her and I'm sure he knows I'm on my own.

Any advice? At my age I don't want to leg opportunity's pass, but also I live around the corner and don't want to face rejection 😬

x

Be brave!!!! and don't forget to report back!!

TatianaBis · 17/11/2021 13:15

If he drops in and your cat is sitting there you will look like a twat.

Cherryblossom200 · 17/11/2021 13:21

Well I did it. The house is split into two flats and he was definitely in. I did the cat thing 😂

A girl answered the door. She looked in her early 20's, he is definitely in his 40's. She wasn't a looker (sorry if that's being mean!). I have no idea if that was his gf/daughter or the other person who lives in the flat.

So I'm going to leave it now..I've tried!

Stuff that always gets my neighbours knocking on my door, and therefore gives you excuses to knock on his:

Parcels sent here by accident (guessing he has same postcode as u so all it would take is to select the wrong house number)
Something has been kicked/ thrown into their/ our garden
Some shared issue (drains ‘has yours been playing up?’ Kinda thing)
Do you have any shared communal areas you all pay for maintenance or anything? We live on an estate so sometimes discuss this. Again drains/ gardeners etc
Bake cookies with your DD and take them to each house (but give him the best one Wink )

desperatehousewife21 · 17/11/2021 13:22

Ah massive cross post! Don’t let that dishearten you OP! Could easily be a daughter/ sister etc esp if the age gap is quite big.

desperatehousewife21 · 17/11/2021 13:24

Did you def get the right flat? If it’s split into 2 maybe he was in the other one? Or did he come to the door too? Did you only knock on that door?
Sorry loads of questions Grin

Cherryblossom200 · 17/11/2021 13:28

I tried both door bells, only one person answered. But it sounded like there was another person in the girls flat with her. Not sure if that was him.

I just didn't put the two of them together, they don't look well matched. She looked very young. And not seen them together before. He is always in his van on his own.

So I may of got the wrong flat. I'm really not sure 🤣

If he's a tradesman why can't you just call him and book him to come over for a quote? His number must be online otherwise how does he get business? Have you looked on social media, checkatrade, google maps etc? There can't be that many tradesmen close to your postcode.

TatianaBis · 17/11/2021 13:43

Next step, note on van. Don’t give up.

fluffedup · 17/11/2021 14:06

Get a small parcel (one that fits through a letter box) sent to your house.
Once you've received it, it will have all the stamps etc on it.
Then get a friend to pretend to be a (not very good) delivery person, and push it through his letterbox.
He will have to bring it round to you.

Cherryblossom200 · 17/11/2021 14:20

Fluffed up that's hilarious! The lengths I'm going to find out about this guy! 😂

Or just do that but with a standard letter? Grin one that you’re not too bothered about, like a bill.

I think this idea is fab!
froggy1811 · 17/11/2021 17:25

Only thing is, it does have to be a larger package (as opposed to a small letter like a bill) as if it's large he HAS to knock, where as, if it's just a letter he may just pop it through the door!

It's really, really frustrating that you're not sure if the house you knocked on is his though! Aren't there any other neighbors in the area that you could ask OP?

Cherryblossom200 · 17/11/2021 18:13

I'm going to have an ask, see if anyone knows him. I knocked on the house which I think is his. It could of been the other house or the other flat 🤪 I knocked on the house his van is outside of. He parks it there all the time.

Oh it's getting too complicated, and the young girl could well be his gf. In which case I don't want to make a tit out of myself 😂

OP posts:
desperatehousewife21 · 17/11/2021 21:23

Ok but we don’t know if she is a gf. I’m thinking not because if they were surely you would have seen them going out together, getting in his van etc I always see my neighbours in their couples going about their daily lives getting in and out their cars together etc, like you just KNOW they’re a couple.

Cherryblossom200 · 17/11/2021 21:34

That's what I'm thinking as well. And I could be wrong, but I just couldn't imagine them together. They look so wrongly matched, plus the age gap. So I don't think they are together, I think I got the wrong property.

This reminds me of that episode of Friends when Joey spots a hot girl in the window of Ross' apartment block and keeps knocking on different doors to try and find her but every time the person answers the door, it wasn't the hot girl lol.

Hopefully you'll be luckier than Joey!

MondeoFan · 17/11/2021 22:32

You def need to do a bit more spying

Yes! 😂

You definitely need to do more spying OP! And ask neighbours. I doubt that is his GF from what you've said, but you need to find out for sure. Do you have any friends that would help you with this?

Only other thing I can think is that you find an excuse to flag him down while he's driving past you! Other than this, go back to other suggestions! But don't give up the goat just yet...

froggy1811 · 02/12/2021 17:40

Did you ever try the letter/parcel trick OP?

Cherryblossom200 · 10/12/2021 09:44

No - I've given up on this one! 😂

I'm assuming he is in a relationship and what will be will be! x
