Just for a laugh, I thought I'd start a thread about the bad and the ugly of OLD...

Here's mine:

1. When men have a picture of a then holding a child on their profile, and then say 'oh, by the way, it's not mine, I promise.' Why include it if it's someone else's?

1. When men say 'if you want to know anything, just ask.' I'm sorry, ask what? You haven't given me anything to ask about!

1. When men just write their social media details on their profile with the words 'add me' and nothing else. No thank you. I'm not a love island contestant.

I like horses, but they are really big, and the people taking the pic seem to stand back to get the entire horse in, so could be anyone in the picture, could be me, FGS !
And I live in a rural area, so I know what a horse looks like.
Honestly no horses please !

Work colleagues (impossible now it’s covid as I never go ) and also 🧐 I find white English professional men can be a bit tricky sometimes

School dads ( I don’t fancy any )

Seriously though, I just turned 51 and look younger Botox etc and just lost lots of weight, solvent, educated unfortunately no children and work a bit too much. I haven’t dated in years and I am hoping love IS possible after 50.

However age appropriate men seem to want 35-40 year olds!

@Hopetobe4mrfatty I would say my last serious relationship finished about 4 years ago or so, took a break for a while, then we had Covid, so have been doing some “light” dating for about 4 or 5 months, had a few coffee dates, okay but nothing special,
Have had a few dates just recently with someone who seems nice, but just going slow
I’m 51, 52 next month

I met my previous via work (she was contract ing where I work), but have been WFH since Mar 2020, so meeting women IRL is almost impossible, my hobby is mostly male, friends are male, so has been via OLD, the person I’m seeing is actually 1yr older than me lives about 30 miles, similar education and background, but would never have crossed paths IRL

@Thisisworsethananticpated just out of interest, why do you say that white professional men are tricky ?,

Men who claim they have a masters degree but their whole profile is misspelt, without punctuation and unintelligible. Lying about age, height, location. Sending a message that just says "hi". Photos of tongues, fish, cars, children, torsos or gangs of "lads livin it large". Rants about women being liars, cheats, drama queens etc. Saying they want women who are only size 8 or 10 because they "don't like fattys" and target women at least 15 years younger than them.

Enough?

Yeh, all of the above, and yet simultaneously believing that OLD is easier for women.

I said the same to my male friend (who isn’t even white !) and he pulled me up on it too

So I’ve been working in a sector dominated by such men for many years
It’s put me off them a bit
The …..
Fragile egos
The mansplaining
The competition with each other and how that plays out at work
The politics

But my other issue is I find the UK system very class and money obsessed , the men of my education level tend to be quite materialistic and have some views I don’t share . The men not of my education level tend to have different political beliefs and views

I tend to gel better with non English men from more level , socialist societies

Oh and University of Life or School of Hard Knocks

Men who have photos with the top of their heads chopped off, wearing hats or big close ups of their faces so that you can't possibly guess that they are bald

Nothing wrong with bald men by the way - no need to hide it.

Do you talk over colleagues in meetings and use terms like ‘strategic intent ‘ and talk for hours about non essential issues to avoid facing the elephant on the table

If not you should be ok !
