Just for a laugh, I thought I'd start a thread about the bad and the ugly of OLD...

Here's mine:

  1. When men have a picture of a then holding a child on their profile, and then say 'oh, by the way, it's not mine, I promise.' Why include it if it's someone else's?
  1. When men say 'if you want to know anything, just ask.' I'm sorry, ask what? You haven't given me anything to ask about!
  1. When men just write their social media details on their profile with the words 'add me' and nothing else. No thank you. I'm not a love island contestant.

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's Smile

In the olden days, five years ago, the married men who didn't want to be recognised would use blurry photos or none showing their face. I remember one wearig a balaclava. I'd presume they now just use a mask for that reason.

OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 22/10/2021 23:41

@fumfspos god yes, the mask posers. Don't know why they bother. We all look the same wearing one and it's like they all want to show how responsible they're being, when all they're really showing is what a twat they look 😳

I'm now back on Bumble. (For my sins!)

I swear, if I see another photo of a man holding a bloody dog, I'm going to throw something out of my bedroom window 😒

There was an article in the times today saying how men with dogs in their OLD profiles get a lot more attention so it might get worse Grin
OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 23/10/2021 01:02

@coronaway I shall wait for that with baited breath 😂😂

Not that many on my swiping stream look like they can read so I'm not worried Grin

When I was on OLD sites I used to see a lot of “You will not be bigger than a size 12. I look after myself and I expect my partner to do the same.” These men would message me, despite my photos showing quite clearly that I was bigger than a size 12. What’s that about?

@RiojaRose one word: timewasting! That and not reading someone's profile properly 😒

They don't know what a size 12 looks like. Or they think they're above you. They find you attractive because but they can weaponise your size and try to use it to make you feel bad about yourself when it suits them.

I'm going to have to add guys that name themselves wanky things like 'Mr Handsome.' or 'Mr Cuddles' as their given name on their profiles.

Yeah, like I'm really going to walk over to you on our first date and exclaim 'Mr Cuddles! Good to meet you at last!' 🙄

Terrible pictures. I bypassed my dp for about a year because of a shocking picture and nothing to compare it to. He messaged me with a new photo that's literally him taking a pic in a mirror the least effort he could make but it's accurate and not cringe. We hit it off straight away but I had this feeling he was familiar from somewhere (job and location). I missed out on dp all that time because of a dreadful photo. He was gorg in real life!!

Iamclearlyamug · 23/10/2021 21:40

To be fair I found the dog thing a great conversation starter - one guy who I liked the look of had a photo of his dog and for the first time ever I messaged first (with a question about the dog). We now live together and aforementioned dog is currently snoring beside me on the sofa 🤷‍♀️❤️😂

What I meant about the dog thing is when they have multiple pictures of them holding the dog. Not that they have a dog in general. 🙂❤️

Awwwww I love this
stopblowingyournose · 23/10/2021 22:24

To be fair dogs don't put me off either. Unless it's not their dog.

stopblowingyournose · 23/10/2021 22:29

I once read a profile that said 'I'm not interested in any broken dolls'

What on earth does that mean? Dolls?
OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 23/10/2021 22:31

I'm not a massive dog person but it doesn't put me off. And I think that one photo of themselves or the dog is fine. But when they put up multiple pictures involving the dog, it does get a bit overkill for me 🙂
