Husbands family

Wondering what others think and if I'm being unreasonable. Weve been married 18 months together 7.5 years and have a 1 year old. Well his family don't accept partners. Whenever there is an invite to a social event its always sent to my husband with a message added to the bottom no partners. I've tried explaining it is hurtful constantly being left out and made to feel unwelcome. Husband promised me once we were married he would make it clear to his family this wasn't acceptable but he continues to socialise with them and tells me I'm.not invited. Am I being unreasonable to want him to see this is hurtful and that I am also family?

Also, definitely don't send your child with him.

@CMSdividend

I've mentioned on other threads that I have this issue too. I have no advice as it's definitely a DH problem for you and I'm sort of in the same boat. So I'm just going to send you some solidarity. It won't change and you'll become the problem in all this but stand your ground!
Your husband’s family won’t let you attend ‘family functions’ either and they still want children to attend?

It had never even crossed my mind that people would act like that until I read this post, I’m sorry @CMSdividend it must be really hurtful. I’ve stopped attending in-laws and all their family stuff because of disgusting behaviour but this is next level.

@Sleeplessem Not only that but they invite OH's other child and sometimes OH's ex Confused

Fucking hell! Have they always been so ‘lovely’ towards you?

And I thought my in laws and their family were rockbottom, they ‘just’ often speak in their mother tongue which they know I can’t understand yet they speak English, won’t let me sit with them at functions and generally ignore me. (I’m from a different ethnic background to DH and they aren’t the most accepting of that)

This is weird His mum will even say "she likes to be mummy" and "looks forward to having the grandchildren so she gets her turn to be mummy
has nobody ever pointed out how bloody weird and rude they are; his mum and sister.

@Sleeplessem Got on fine until me and OH dared to have a child of our own. It's their loss, DD is a beautiful child and I don't give them any headspace. I've come to terms with OH essentially leading 2 lives, one with me, DD, other kids, my family and our friends and the other with all that and his parents.

@QueenBee52

Divorce the Bastard .. take your Child and do not look back.. 🌸
I think this would be what I would do

One of the weirdest things I've ever heard.

@CMSdividend..how long did it take you to.come to terms with it and to be ok.with it? I feel I'm pretty much done and don't see why I should spend my life pretending this os anywhere near acceptable or ok. But have days where i wonder if just living with it is the better option. Either way our daughter is no longer attending any get togethers that I'm excluded from.

@Anonymously2 For a while I pushed him to challenge their behaviour and to his credit he did try but they're completely toxic and as much as he tries to break free he is trauma bonded with them.
It's taken about a year I suppose. It's been hard going and has caused a lot of tension between us but now I'm just "nah, fuck em" The big test though will be Christmas this year as we are due to go to them. I won't be I can tell you that much!

Stop sending your kids. Blanket ban them. This is just rude and weird.
