Basically that..

How often do you and your other half speak in the day?

Taking into consideration work and other responsibilities, do you talk often?

Just needed some insight as to whether im expecting too much haha

When we are out of the home working, we only ever contact each other if it's important. We'd both find it irritating to be messaging each other about random stuff during working hours. We're supposed to be working, not chatting!

vdbfamily · 10/05/2021 22:39

breakfast together then only message if urgent communication and I will be home by 7 ISH. Every now and then he might message something funny one of the kids had said or done or a reminder for something but not normally.

NotaCoolMum · 10/05/2021 22:52

We don’t live together yet but we chat every morning before work and after, and again before bed.

Mooloolabababy · 10/05/2021 22:54

Under current circumstances where dh is work from home and I work part time, then quite often, I'll pop in and have a chat every now and again when he's not on a call, but when he's in the office, we don't speak at all. I might occasionally ask him to call for milk on his way home, but apart from that we don't text or call.

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 10/05/2021 22:55

when we get up we talk a little but once we have gone to work, not at all. very occasionally i might give him a quick call at lunchtime but very often he is already on a call.

so...not during the workday at all really

frozendaisy · 11/05/2021 15:07

As little as we can get away with!

Exceptions: emergency with the kids, urgent house admin, something extremely funny the kids have done to brighten up the day.

cheeseismydownfall · 11/05/2021 17:28

DH and I are both WFH so it's all changed, but when we were both working out of the home we would never talk/message during the day unless it was for practical reasons.

We've been very happily together for over 20 years but personally I think I would find it a bit suffocating to be in frequent contact during the day? When I'm at work I like to focus on work, and I think he is the same.

Milkandhoney888 · 11/05/2021 17:36

We message quite often, I'll message on my breaks and likewise. Some day's can be quieter as he's in a manual job and leaves his phone in the van ect but everyone is different, some would probably find it too much lol

Sirzy · 11/05/2021 17:38

Dp works away mon - Friday. He will send a few video messages in the morning and then a phone call every evening in between that it depends what’s going on for both of us

maddy68 · 11/05/2021 17:39

Don't speak to each other at all possible except to say goodbye when I leave to go to work. No daytime communication until I come home at night

BettyOBarley · 11/05/2021 17:40

Rarely text during the day, unless it's asking him to pick something up on way home etc or I've seen something he'd find funny. Don't feel the need tbh and he drives all day anyway so not able to use his phone much.

xsjrx · 11/05/2021 17:43

Pre covid, we'd whatsapp through the day during work. Both currently WFH and use the same dining table unless meetings clash. Chat throughout day but equally might not speak for an hour or so if busy. Turns out we are great home office colleagues 🤣

Ragwort · 11/05/2021 17:49

Never (unless emergency ... or yesterday he did text me to say chickens were reduced to £1 and did I want any Grin). Quite honestly after 30+ years of marriage we haven't got that much to say to each other during the day anyway... I manage a shop so don't want to just 'have a chat' when I'm busy.

DH works from home but even when I was furloughed we wouldn't chat much during the day unless he came out of his office for a lunch break.

Neither of us see the need to be in constant touch with each other. He's away on business tonight, he might send a very quick text later but we are unlikely to speak to each other..

BurbageBrook · 11/05/2021 17:50

We don't normally text in the working day. Both too busy! We would at the weekend if apart, but usually are together then.

Sunnidayz · 11/05/2021 17:53

Both WFH, my DH is autistic and not given to chatting unless it's something he wants to talk/rant about. Otherwise I'll say something and get a "hmmm" or similar.

Passthecake30 · 11/05/2021 18:01

Dp is a tradesman and we only talk during the day if it’s something that can’t wait until the evening (kids for example). I linger in bed until he goes to work in the morning as he’s a grump in the morning, and when he comes home he likes to decompress… so we don’t talk much at all really, but tbh after a year of wfh I have nothing much to say.

Houseofvelour · 11/05/2021 18:02

He calls me on his lunch break and we usually text each other a few times about things that are happening/stupid memes/reminders of appts etc

MeridasMum · 11/05/2021 18:06

We're both WFH full time, so at the moment, we talk a lot - sometimes we work in the same room, sometimes we go into different rooms if we have Teams calls or need to concentrate.

In our old life, we were both office based and talked on the phone when we needed to (once or twice per week) and texted a couple of times per day at most.

Isthisit22 · 11/05/2021 20:28

Hardly ever. We're both at work. We see each other every night- why would we?
I find it weird (and irritating) that one of my friend's husband rings her every time we meet up for coffee- seems controlling.
My other friends are the same as me- in long relationships so don't ring each other hardly at all

ApplyWithin · 11/05/2021 20:35

God, hardly ever unless it’s for child-related/household admin. I can’t imagine him ringing me to ask how I am. I think we assume the other is fine unless told otherwise!

julietmanchester · 11/05/2021 20:38

DH and I text or call on average 6 times a day, unless we are both extremely busy. But at least one text or cal during lunch to catch up on lunch. The exception is when work becomes demanding, then maybe once a day.

But at least once a day.
