Online dating - would this make you go 'urghh yuck'?

I am not an online dating novice but I've only recently rejoined after a 5 month break. I've been messaging someone for about 10 days and he seems nice and normal (well, as much as you can possibly tell at this stage) but today he has said something that's really turned me off! He was just telling me about his day and that for dinner he is eating the rest of a casserole he made last night but it has too many onions in 'so it might get a bit windy' 😳 I mean, really?! It's actually made me feel a bit sick. That's done it for me, a switch has flicked in my head and I don't want to speak to him anymore! Shall I just block him?

Wouldn’t think anything of that at all! Would just find it funny and say something light hearted back Confused

MazekeenSmith · 16/03/2021 15:52

Ew that would be a no from me
I have zero tolerance towards fart and shit jokes in any form and if a man actually started farting on a date I would have the ick times a million

WonkyCactus · 16/03/2021 16:05

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Poor guy, hope he finds someone else who appreciates his sense of humour and his cooking.

How do you even know he's good at cooking? He might be rubbish. He did put too many onions in, after all.
PolytheneHam · 16/03/2021 16:20

Farting seems to be a crime as far as mumsnetters are concerned.

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

Swordfish1 · 16/03/2021 16:20

I would probably be a bit, errr ok then, about it. But it wouldn't make me stop talking to him. He messed up, once, probably thought he was being funny or lilghthearted.
If he carried on along those lines though and his humour was as childish going forward, then I would make the decision to bow out.

CuteBear · 16/03/2021 16:22

Men never grow up. They always think farting is funny. His remark is something you’d share in a relationship, but not necessarily in the early dating stage. He might’ve just tried to make you laugh.

Bagelsandbrie · 16/03/2021 16:25

I wouldn’t like that either but then I’m not one for fart humour.

Spied · 16/03/2021 16:28

If he's have said fart/farting then I'd be fine with that but the use of the word 'windy' would totally put me off him.

Afishcalledwonderful · 16/03/2021 16:34

Actually, I have just remembered he mentioned earlier in our conversations about swigging Gaviscon [ohhh the talk of seduction!] so maybe he has a general wind problem? In any event, it's not something I really want to hear about.

LeonoraFlorence · 16/03/2021 16:38

That would definitely put me off! Far too familiar at this stage.

draughtycatflap · 16/03/2021 16:49

Best to end it now. I’d be worried his party piece was bending over to light them on a first date.

Onthedunes · 16/03/2021 17:00

He well may have gastro problems and his open language reflects his tolerance of certain foods, it may not be just humour.

But there again a bit too much information, in written form, early on may be off putting.
If you were really interested you would be finding out whether this is a health concern or humour.
Move on, you are clearly not on the same page.

DianeCherry · 16/03/2021 17:10

@SooMoony

I would definitely be put off a man who talked about farting - he could be one of those types who lift one bum cheek and let rip and think it's absolutely hilarious, or the idiots who ask you to pull their finger, and when you do, they fart loudly. It's juvenile and I really wouldn't want any kind of romantic relationship with a man like that.
I'm totally with you on this. Not funny, not sexy, not something I'd ever want to live with

Ew. Time to run.
Faerysmoke · 16/03/2021 17:11

I started seeing a guy once that kept talking about poo. He brought it up in every single conversation. I hadn't heard of fecal transplants until I met him. Biggest turn off ever. Makes me feel queasy just thinking about it actually!

Afishcalledwonderful · 16/03/2021 17:13

@Faerysmoke I've never heard of a fecal transplant!

OP posts:
CaesarsDream · 16/03/2021 17:18

Ew, gross.🤢

I frequently had to ask my exH to refrain from talking about this kind of thing, his bowel habits, etc.

A complete turn off IMO

bangheadhere40 · 16/03/2021 17:20

What is a fecal transplant?

Tlollj · 16/03/2021 17:24

Poor sod has only got the farts. He’s not killing kittens.
But if you don’t like it you don’t like it I guess. Onwards.

Afishcalledwonderful · 16/03/2021 17:25

Just googled it .... you receive a healthy donor stool (!)

OP posts:
happyjack12 · 16/03/2021 17:26

sorry, nothing helpful to add, but I now need to go and google faecal transplant...

happyjack12 · 16/03/2021 17:27

Oh I wish I hadn't....

Givemeabreak88 · 16/03/2021 17:30

It would put me off as well, it just would, I don’t like fart jokes though or
People that openly sit their and fart in front of others so yep wouldn’t be meeting him!
