How Often Do You See Your Parents?

I see my dad (mum no longer with us) at least once a week.

My brother sees him probably once a fortnight for an hour, has never invited him round for dinner and dad has stepped in his house 3 times in the last 2.5yrs, despite living literally 10 minute walk away.

How often do you see your parents and what is it too much or too little?

i see them [seperately] around once a week, but i speak to them everyday on the phone.

I see my parents 2 or 3 times a week

Oh and I do talk to my dad at least once a day, usually twice!

Weird isnt it... I hope my kids talk and see me lots!!

I see them every day during the week and sometimes at weekends too, they live 20 minutes away by car.

(I work with my dad though and my mum picks DS up from school, it would be less if not for this It's not too much or too little though as there is no pressure to see or not see them)

See my mum every 6 weeks ish, sometimes longer. She lives around 150 miles away.

Baby brother, aged 20, who I love to bits, I saw this weekend, before that it was January (at a funeral as well, so not too jolly). He is about 100 miles away, at uni.

Seeing them both this weekend (for mum's birthday) has made me determined to make the effort to see them both more often. Unfortunately the onus is on me to travel as neither of them have very much money. But I need to see them more frequently. This is my (very early) new year resolution

My parents live in Ireland, so we probably see them every two to three months.

I ring home every day, sometimes twice a day.

about 4-5 times a year, but she lives 4.5 hours driving from me, and has dementia and has no idea who I am (hasn't for over 4 years now). She can't talk, or understand anything. I go to see her, sit with her for 30 mins to an hour and then leave.

Rips me apart, can't really cope with it, now that dh is so terribly ill, and there is mum with no mind, but still faily fit and healthy. all seems so fucking unfair.

I guess after the loss of my mum I just feel the need to "hold on" to my dad

my father died 10 years ago

i see my mum at least four times a week as she comes to look after the kids for two hours every day so i can go to work

and we normally pop round on a sunday morning so the kids get to see my dad

but we do only live around the corner

dh's mum lives about hlf an hour away and we see her about once a fortnight unless she comes to babysit in the school hols

My mum, probably once every six weeks or so, my dad and PIL probably every couple of months.

My grandad had dementia MB, and I stopped going to see him. He had no idea who I was, and sometimes got distressed at realising that he should know. My mum saw him every two days. It was dreadful for her, but she says she went for her not for him. He didn't know who she was at all, and once even made a pass at her . I'm so sorry about your mum .

About 4 times a year. Would do loads more but ferry crossings/airfares are expensive. I email my brother about once a week and speak to mum and dad on the phone perhaps every 5 days or so. We also text! I miss my family.

I see my mum at least 3 times a week (she comes over and has the kids) plus I usually go over there 1/2 times a week with the kids for lunch or tea (when I will see both mum and dad). I also msg her online. They live 15 mins away.

Inlaws - once every 4/6 weeks, dh speaks to them on the phone about every 3 weeks, I never do. They live about 90 mins away.

TM, my mother once mad a pass at my brother. Poor bloke, he was mortified and gutted.

I go for me, since dm has no idea who she is, let alone who I am. But it is such a long trip and the last one was so upsetting, comparing my mother clinging to life, and dh losing his at 45 was just more than I can cope with. DB told me not to go again, as it is just all too much for me atm, and I may well take his advice

I am so sorry for all of you have lost a parent or whose parent is ill.

I'm sure your brother is right MB. You go for you, and if it just makes things worse for you...

Haven't seen my Mum since beginning of August probably see her about 6 times a year (she's an hour away) she's a toxic parent so I don't visit her anymore (long story) but don't stop her seeing the DC.

Dad - probably see about once every few months (saw him beginning of September)

MIL - last saw July but she says she is coming up on Thursday

Brother - last saw July

SIL - saw last week.

I generally have a crap family with no support, I wish I was one of those people who saw their mum every 2-3 days and they are best friends.

I see mine several times a week and I speak to my mum most days. They help out with childcare adn are very supportive. I know I'm lucky to have them.

I see dp's parents usually once or twice a week, and speak to his mum on the phone usually a couple more times as well. They also live in same city and are very nice and supportive. They also help with childcare.
