Whatever your issue with drinking, whether you just want some encouragement with dry January or whether you've reached your rock bottom and need to quit. Everyone is welcome. You'll find support, encouragement, help. You'll find lots of understanding folks, who won't minimise your problem but who will never judge you. Never judging, never minimising our problems.

@whyMrsRobinson thanks for posting that from SophieB, that's brilliant. Interesting thinking - we're fighting the wrong fight with the witch, if we stop battling and walk away completely, we will achieve what we want - self-respect, positivity and peace! Simple (if only!!)

How are you doing now we're well into January? I'm still going on the old Dry Jan. Feeling the benefits of sleep and feeling a bit smug and self-confident, but most of all not feeling the dis-benefits I experienced almost every day. I've got headspace back, as I don't need to have that ongoing chat with myself, I have one less thing to beat myself up for. I'm loving mornings, especially weekend mornings, and I'm trying to be more available and present for my family. That's not always possible, because.......well, they drive me mad but heyho. I went to a party with some rather dull people, that I thought would push me over the edge, but instead I actually had a really good time, possibly because I was calmer and not shouty and, well, drunk! Maybe I was always the dull one!

I hope all the babes are looking after themselves and doing what feels right. Had anyone heard of the Puppy Principle? Essentially, we should treat ourselves with all the love and gentleness that we do a small puppy. When they make mistakes, we don't kick them or shout at them, we generally spend all day stroking and cuddling them and telling them how gorgeous they are. And attending to every need - food, exercise, warmth, toys and health and unqualified love. So, why dont we treat ourselves like this?? We don't even need our poop picked up for us (well not yet anyway), surely we're worth the same?

Strange you should mention poop. It was when a lifelong friend came to stay, got drunk at dinner then shat in my guest bed that I decided I had had enough of the demon drink. Dry January is going well, I’m trying to decide whether to stay completely AF.

Society pushes us to drink: ‘wine o’clock’, ‘mummy needs wine’ etc. I’m fed up with it. The truth is alcohol destroys self-esteem, takes over your life, demeans you, kills you. It can FUCK OFF

I’m a bit sad the bus seems to have rolled to a - hopefully temporary - halt. Or has it parked elsewhere and I’ve not yet found the stop? Just wondering how everyone is doing. I’m sober all this year and feeling as good as I have in a while. Still vigilant, still hopeful. Wine witch always lurking where and when least expected. Hope everyone is ok.

Morning all! I’m missing you all, too. I can’t even load MN on my phone these days so I hardly get to post anything anymore. How’s everyone doing?

I'm still hanging around on the bus. It's looking a bit cobwebby at the moment...

Still here, still trying to stop or at least reduce. As long as I don't open that bottle, I'm sorted. I haven't had ANY drunken rows since the last time I posted, which is a win.

I went back 'home' to stay with daughter for a night (difficult relationship, drank a little, no sleep, which makes the relationship even more difficult), then 2 nights with mum, who has Dementia and spends the night groaning, so I drink very little and still get no sleep.

Lovely sleep last night (2 in a row), no alcohol at all.

My problem is that I just love the taste of wine. I don't drink wine with food, because I don't notice it. As has been said, the first glass is always the best. If only I could keep to that.

Here's where the bus is parked! So many changes on MN. Watched threads and search has been broken for so long I almost gave up and then like magic, it appeared tonight!!

Hey Mint. How's life with you and Mr Mint. Remember being at your wedding!

Ahhh our lovely elopement. That was a fantastic day. Things are a bit different right now. Unfortunately it looks like Mr Mint may have a brain tumour. Just waiting for results to come through from MRI . But still ticking along, travelling round the Highlands with dogs in tow when we can.

Amazed when I saw the thread pop up.
I was on the bus ages ago.
Must have reached my destination and got off.
Im 6.5 years sober and have never looked back.
I cannot tell you how much my life has changed for the better.
Is Mouse still around?

Erm, well, ‘ᕼᗴᒪᒪO ᗩᘜᗩIᑎ ᒪOᐯᗴᒪY ᗷᗩᗷᗴS!’ It’s been rather a while since my last post, and rather a lot has changed with this little squeaky Mouseface. I’m going to have to try and arrange everything in to date order and then come back to update you all on all things life, love and of course laundry! 🙄 I just feel very strange posting on here after such a long time! Love to all of the Brave Babes who have been on the Bus for as long as you have needed it !! ♥️♥️♥️ STAY STRONG!! xxx

Things here are trundling on - an eternal challenge, sometimes won but sometimes not. I miss you lot as a source of support and chatter.
