mummy412 · 15/10/2020 19:05

Those you of living with partners do you spilt bills rent etc 50/50?

My partner has moved in and has yet to contribute to anything. I've made it clear he needs to pay something especially if I'm buying food etc he's helping himself too.

So far I pay everything

We put all the money in1 pot pay all the bills and share whats left

MabelFurball · 15/10/2020 21:14

I'm getting an advert for Top London Lawyers 😳

LulaLuna · 15/10/2020 21:22

I went through this, while i was pregnant i had enough and it was not fair on my wee baby so i stopped buying food for partner and only bought food for myself. I only paid for the things that I would of paid for if I lived alone as I own my own home. He was meant to pay half of all bills and didnt but I was not looking to end the relationship so I needed to do damage control so paid my bills and his food was his issue.
He quickly got a job and started paying. If it ever reverted I would do the same thing again and do my separate holidays etc as I finished paying for everything once I got preggo.
If he is a good egg and values you he will grow up and take responsibility, if not then tell him to fuck off!

SBTLove · 15/10/2020 21:27

I actually laughed out loud reading this!
You have a baby, he’s been there the last two months and hasn’t contributed anything??
So you’re paying everything off your mat pay?
Fgs women, get a grip!

Anydreamwilldo12 · 15/10/2020 21:43

He's taking the piss and you have been far too soft. What a selfish greedy git.

Therealjudgejudy · 15/10/2020 22:01

Another one...Hmm

AnnaMagnani · 15/10/2020 22:04

You have a baby together and he pays nothing!

Also what is this 50:50 obsession? Whoever earns more should pay more. No 50:50 splits.

cosmicbabe · 15/10/2020 22:07

Our money goes into a pot..we pay the Bills and what's left is ours to spend as a family..

mummy412 · 15/10/2020 22:38

Well I thought it would be common sense for him to pay. Clearly not. Talked to him he said he's going to start working at weekends to help out

OP posts:
nimbuscloud · 15/10/2020 22:41

What does that mean?
Is he not currently working?
What exactly does ‘helping out’ mean?

SBTLove · 15/10/2020 22:41

Does he not work during the week?
Make a list of all the outgoings and make it clear to him he’s not living free of fuckin charge.
Has he not bought any groceries? offered anything for the baby? Did he come straight from mummy?

nimbuscloud · 15/10/2020 22:42

What is your current income?
And your bills/expenses?

Welshgal85 · 15/10/2020 22:44

Hmm what does ‘help out’ mean? That sounds like he sees it as doing you a favour rather than paying his share of things! He should want to be a team and share the responsibilities with you

madcatladyforever · 15/10/2020 22:44

"To help out" no not to help out, to pay for his family, he is not a lodger tossing a few quid in the pot.
If he won't pay 50:50 chuck the fool out. You don't need this cocklodger - your baby needs the money more than him.
He sounds disgusting, I'd chuck him out right now, how dare he think he can get two months free board and lodging.
Where would he live if he was not living with you? Presumably he would be paying for his own food and rent so why suddenly does he think he can live with you for free?
Because he is a massive twat is why and will never change - mark my words.

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/10/2020 22:45

Helping out?!

Is he working during the week? Where is his money going?

Rafflesway · 15/10/2020 22:58

Couldn't have put it better myself! 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

Does he contribute to the household in a non-financial way? E.g. looks after your baby while you go to work? Cleans the house, cooks for you, etc?

Otherwise, if he's not paying a penny, then he's a parasite and deserves to be kicked out.

Woui · 16/10/2020 00:03

Fuck me. I am old and my DP and I have chosen not to live with each other, but he spends most of his time here.. and even he pays his way here !

RantyAnty · 16/10/2020 05:21

Good grief. Has he paid anything towards his child? Has he cared for his child?

Oh and fuck the 50/50 nonsense. You had a baby and took off work for this and possibly your career is affected. You have taken all the risk. Him nothing. He can pay more than 50%. ffs don't get pregnant again by him. He can keep his willy in his pants. Let me guess. He doesn't like wearing condom either.

If he isn't working, he needs to go now.

myshoelaces · 16/10/2020 05:39

Help out? So you carry him the rest of the time? Why isn't he working during the week?

Honestly op WTF is going on?!

PracticingPerson · 16/10/2020 05:43

Where did he live before August?

I think I would ask him to go back there, then start this whole thing again when you've had a proper conversation.

Yes he should pay 50%.

HeronLanyon · 16/10/2020 05:51

‘Help out’ ?!
He needs to pay his way and for his child.
He’s got responsibilities and expenses. He needs to meet them and pay them. No element of ‘helping out’. What a patronising selfish attitude if that is how he described it. If those are your words op then get a grip and don’t buy into this by feeling ‘helping out’ is what he needs to do. Hoping you aren’t feeling ‘grateful’ either.
Good luck.

LilyLongJohn · 16/10/2020 06:32

Working at weekends to help out? Does he not have a job during the week?

I'm not sure I understand, if someone is working and paying no bills what is he doing with his obey that he has to work extra to pay

LilyLongJohn · 16/10/2020 06:33

To add to my post, my dh pays for all the food and any 'fun stuff' plus various insurances whilst i pay the mortgage and the bills. We both end up with about roughly the same disposable money each month
