I am neglecting mumsnet because of facebook . do you think it's just an infatuation? is it possible to have 2 relationships? or do I have to choose?

What you have to ask youself is.. how would you feel if Mumsnet was unfaithful to you?? stopped you logging on and neglected your needs???... are you prepared to risk what you have for the sake of meaningless face?

just tried to go on Facebook but it's too confusing and I can't find anyone, even people I know are there - I think I might have made a mistake when I entered a network as now I can only browse people in that network even though I don't really have any connection to here!

I was like that hatwoman but after a while it gets boring. When everyone you know is on there, theres only so much poking and status changing you can do.

I don't get it either, I ahve loads of applictions added and people want to bite me and stuff....now idea what any of it means.

I'm mystified as to why its additive TBH.

(Have found 2 old friends on tehre though so its not a complete waste of time)

one was through a an old school pal and the other found me....just today actually.
She shared the house with DH when they were at university and we became really good frinds.
Lost touch with her about 5 years ago and have tried many many times to find her (shes a forces wife so it was hard). Got and emil this morning saying Is this you.

I'm over the moon.

Only one of her on there so that was easy peasy.

Facebook is good for keeping up with old friends or finding them.
Mumsnet is much better for a day to day chat or scrap as seems to be more the case currently

I've been having lots of fun looking at friends of friends and friends of friends of friends - you loose track of whose friends you're looking at and then come across someone you haven;t seen for over 10 years. (has to be said - you swap 2 emails and realise that there's probably a reason why you haven;t seen them for 10 years...) I haven;t sussed the applications business. although I think that might have been what I was doing when I did this quiz thing where you had to guess where in the world various pictures were. It's a very different thing to mn and if I had to choose mn would win. but in the meantime it's not doing any harm is it?

I don't understand facebook. Are you supposed to be able to see more info than a name and a photo of someone, or do you have to poke them to get to, well, second base?

It's actually more straightforward than I thought. you set your own privacy - ie you control what people can see. most people let anyone see their friends but only let their friends and people in the same networks see their profile. I don;t let anyone see my friends because then people would know how few I have. I looked for you MI (as pretty much the only mner whose real name i know) but you weren;t there. I promise to be your friend if you join...
